Anyone else intrigued by the level of talent headed to Valley's Football Program?

Re: Anyone else intrigued by Valley's football hype and Comegy's work thus far?

The other schools cooled on Anderson because there was a question to the health of his knee.

Bingo. He was more of a borderline FBS recruit. That knee injury made him expendable to most FBS coaches. I think he will go on to do great things at JSU, but only if that knee doesn't give him any issues. Barring injury, we have the bodies to redshirt him. I hope we do.

Re: Anyone else intrigued by Valley's football hype and Comegy's work thus far?

The thing is NOBODY from Valley is HYPING anything. All we did was made a thread much like others did for signing day and just added names as they signed. Hell the originator of this post isn't even from Valley. Logical people know it takes time to rebuild a program. It just seems to me that some people are feeling a certain type of way because Valley is getting some publicity and an influx of quality talent. As for this "hype", it's not coming from the Delta Devils.

So you're upset with JSU folks because we're telling you what we KNOW about Comegy and Hayes coaching styles? What do you want us to do? Lie?!:noidea:

Honestly, it's not enough of ya'll to get hype.

Forgive me for using the term, "hype" because that wasn't really how I wanted to come off. I do know plenty of Valley alums who are "excited".

Re: Anyone else intrigued by Valley's football hype and Comegy's work thus far?

Discipline and Comegy is an oxymoron that's all...

LOL. Come on now. It's almost impossible to have 14 years of coaching teams that have won 8 or more games and not get credit for having some type of discipline. When winning coaches take over losing programs, players usually respond well to eliminating mental mistakes. I could be wrong, but from the reports that I am getting, I think that Comegy will improve in giving up penalties. I see many JSU folks are being tough on Comegy, but I thought that JSU had the least penalties in the SWAC last season.

Re: Anyone else intrigued by Valley's football hype and Comegy's work thus far?

Please. When it came to detail, Comegy teams were lacking. Going man to man on 4th and 25 with two minutes left in the game is stupid. See 2012 SCG and Pine Bluff. Not calling timeouts on time is unforgiveable. See Grambling. Not teaching receivers to run crisp routes is inexcusable. Not winning the SWAC East with Therriault at QB is laughable. Not running the ball down their throats when your backs are gaining five yards a carry is stupid. Throwing the ball and giving up six interceptions against the best pass defense and losing the game by one TD is stupid. See Bama State 2011. Playing zone defense for the first time all year in the SCG is unforgiveable plus losing to one of the worse defenses in the SWAC is TOTALLY unforgiveable. See 2013 SCG game.
Winning only ONE SCG in eight years with the best or second best talent each year is unforgiveable.

At JSU, Comegy was given more than enough time, talent and resources to win at least ONE SCG since 2007 is REALLY unforgiveable.
Good luck Valley, cause you'll need it. If he couldn't win it at JSU, it's highly doubtful Valley will even come close.

Re: Anyone else intrigued by Valley's football hype and Comegy's work thus far?

I believe in Comegy becasue I know the man is a winner. However, his way of winning is stacking the field with talent. If you expect some strategy, you can forget it. He did what he did at Tuskegee because he could. Some of those guys would only enroll in the fall to play football. Comegy was the AD and there was no APR (still not in D2) so Comegy could do as he pleased. However, I don't see him making Valley into a SWAC contender. Comegy may stay 3-4 years and then retire. The difference here is that 7-4 is just enough at JSU to get consideration of keeping your job. 7-4 at Valley is cause for a parade. Comegy won't be a loser. I think he will win 6-7 games consistently but he won't able to get Valley to JSU's level. ..

..and I need SOMEBODY to go ahead and tell Chang what to expect on 3rd and long.. :lmao: This schitt bout to be funny.

At this point, I believe that Valley just needs to put some wins on their record. You are right about what a 7 win season means for Valley fans. However, just can't see him not enhancing the talent level enough to make a run at a SWAC title shot in future. I won't be shocked if they compete with everyone next season. He is bringing in talent.

I think Valley needs to start the next two season playing a division II HBCU, a NAIA program and a MEAC school like Savannah State in order to give them a chance to start off the season with some momentum.

Have you ever watched a Comegy-led team?

JayRob, I'm simple just talking about penalties and at the wrong times. See Alabama St game in BAMA when Comegy had his melt down.

mane tell me about it. My post was in reference to the thread's' origin talking about "hype" and folks find a way to equate that to me talking about their school. Huh???

I don't understand why these certain posters go out of their way to look for negative things about Valley and new coach (They must be "sked" about having to deal with MVSU in the future). :smh:  :emlaugh:

Ok so I'm not the only one who thinks this too, good luck Valley except at PV  :read:

Re: Anyone else intrigued by Valley's football hype and Comegy's work thus far?

Is it me, or was the title of this thread changed?

Anyway, JSU folks most likely have their reasons for bashing Comegy, (but from the outside looking in), I feel that Valley made the best hire of the FCS 2014 season. Comegy has proven that he can recruit and win games. A program like Valley can only improve with a head coach with the type of recruiting game like Comegy.

I know Trigger Man talks of them being young, but it's a good thing that the SWAC is not a conference where youth or experience plays a major factor in results on the field. The SWAC is a matter of who shows up to play and a battle of who wants to win the most.

The depth chart of Valley will be much improved under Comegy. You can already see how he is attacking needs. Valley has a nice group of lineman coming in for the 2014 season if they aren't already in summer school.

Tuskegee and Jackson State have both shown us that Gregory Black knows how to get an offensive line to play at a high level. Even though the scores didn't speak much, Black had JSU's offensive line looking solid against FBS teams Mississippi State and Tulane.

JSU Fans have always celebrated too soon and the players have always fed off the fans in the stands celebrating before the game is over. If you go back and evaluate the key games JSU have lost including the last two championships JSU lost you will see the lost of concentration of the players.

That was on the player. Even one there was shocked when he spiked the ball like that. Still funny though lol

It wasn't dumb, it just went over your head. He spoke about the team losing concentration before the game is over.
