And then Oregon does this

Yeap, as soon as them and TCU joined a real conference, everyone's theory about them not being able to last in a season-long battle with BCS conference teams was proven true.

They didn't have to last a season in a bcs conference. They just had to win the games on their schedule. When they got the chance they cut the lights off on bama. Bama hasn't tried to schedule them for a rematch either..snicker, just like app state hasn't been invited back to the big house. By th way.... If you can't win your conference you shouldn't be allowed to compete for a national championship. The new playoffs should be for conference champs only!

You are going to have upsets from time to time. Heck we beat Texas A&M in basketball, that doesn't mean we would be competitive in the SEC. Why would Alabama be scared of Utah when they open their season playing a major BCS-power team each season? Utah wants no part of Alabama as they would get embarrassed. Think about the direction both programs went after that game. Alabama went on to win 3 national titles, Utah is struggling to become bowl-elgible.

You don't have to win your conference/division in the NFL to go to the playoffs . . . you don't have to win it in the NBA or NCAA Basketball. Why should you have to win it in FBS College Football?

In an average year, you have four or five teams in the SEC that are better than any conference champion not in the SEC.

You forget pro sports have playoffs. Something that the FBS won't have until next year. That's why it doesn't matter if teams win their division or not to compete for a championship.

Kendrick, did you read my post? And the quote from major095? See the part where he said "the new playoffs should be for conference champs only" . . . That's what I was responding to.

I have no problem with Major's suggestion. The regular season, especially conference play, will mean a whole lot more.

Well dang...

My cousin out in Eugene just applied for an equipment manager job at Oregon. After seeing all of THAT- please keep Dedrick Johnson in your prayers!

It's crazy how Alabama blacks are speaking up for Bama as if they went to the school and Saban gives a damn about you. Please, the PWC's were forced to allow blacks to attend and only started accepting black athletes due to the success in the past of the Gramblings, SU's, TNSU's and FAMU but yall ride their coat tails like slaves. WTF.

Would someone please post that "dead horse" icon in here.

Thanks

You have to look at the documentary Roll Tide/War Eagle. It is just a part of their culture. I don't fault them. The University of Alabama is ranked in the top 5 most watched programs in the country (that's including pro franchises). I'm sure most of them don't agree with the politics (conservative) of a lot of folks in Alabama or some affiliated with the universities....The people of Alabama have a legacy of fighting for civil rights so I'm sure they can distinguish between the two (football and politics). The landscape of college athletics has changed for ever so I give them the benefit of the doubt.

Come on, bruh.

There's a SEC school in Louisiana too and I believe I've seen you say that you hate them with a passion. :emlaugh: Folks fought for civil rights in Lousiana too, but you don't see people rushing to defend the man like these Bammers do. I thoroughly enjoy how easy it is to get them riled up. Say the least little thing against Bama and they nearly break their necks trying to defend massa. While I just sit back and laugh and shake my head because I've never seen anything like it.

Those are some peculiar people but it is what it is. Kudos to Oregon once again.

When USC and Sam "The Bam" Cunningham rolled into Tuscaloosa and black folks from Alabama was viewing the game outside of the stadium and pulling for USC, Alabama football and relationship to the black community was never the same again. Mckay and Bryant made everyone understand you have to play the best regardless of color. Unfortunately, our HBCU(s) haven't been as successful. However, when you like at a high profile person like the Simms kid going to Winston Salem State, it may be a small window to what the future holds..........We shall see.

The difference is they are defending the football team. Not the politics of folks from Alabama......One thing you said is true, I don't like LSU the school. I do pull for their football team and the black kids, chiefly from Louisiana that play for them.

Thank you, JROCK. Well said.

My boss (who's from Louisiana) calls that kind of explanation "putting the hay down where the goats can get it".
