Alcorn State player shot, killed...

Lord have mercy!

When things are not going the way they should I have learned to step back from speaking eloquent words and just say "Lord, have mercy!".

God bless the families torn by this tragedy and those touched by it!

Very sad thing to hear. Another young brother losing his life for nothing because of thugs. A kid goes to school to improve his life and loses it.

What a horrible tragedy. My prayers are with the family of the slain young man the other student injured, and the entire Alcorn Family.

I pray that the world will come to know in a time like this that they can call on Jesus. He is a Comforter. Jesus please sustain all. The devil tries to step in to disrupt. But let the university students, staff, and faculty know that in You there is victory and that the mission of the university will go forth peacefully.

For something like this to happen is a shame. My sympathy goes out to all. What goes through someones mind for them to take someones life for something so petty.
To Thine Self Be True

God knows best!

Not only has the family of this young man and the others injuried by this foolishness been hurt, but THE ENTIRE RACE as well. :(

Nothing can replace the loss to the family. We can only hope that justice is done and that the family be able to maintain by placing their trust in God.

DAYUM NI%$#@! :redhot:

Bama State built a giant fence around the campus to keep the local thugs out at night. It's a shame that we have to turn our campuses into forts and segregate ourselves from the local community.

words can't express the regret that goes thru by mind when i hear thins like this.
It reminds me of my on personal tragedy when my cousin JB was shot under similar circumstances, he was one of the top prospects for the NFL and he played corner for Grambling when some punk shot him.
God be with the family and may God be with him.

4 Low-lives Arrested!

Thugs charged in death of football player at Alcorn State

Lorman, MI (Sports Network) - Four Natchez men have been charged with murdering Alcorn State linebacker JeKelcy Lee Johnson who was shot late Monday night during a campus confrontation. Johnson, 20 years old, was declared dead that same night at Claiborne County Hospital.
Troy Hayes, 24, Tyauntra Batteaste, 24, Terrell Chatman, 23, and Demetrice Williams, 20, were held without bond on Thursday in the Claiborne County Detention Center in Port Gibson. Each is charged with murder and aggravated assault.
According to the police, another student was injured in the shootings and the four men being charged were questioned on Tuesday. The four men are not students and were just "joyriding" on the campus.
Police also say that Johnson became involved in this tragic incident after one of the four being charged threw a bottle at a female student.
The female was taken to the hospital but did not require hospitalization. The other student who was shot, 20-year-old Roddel Devoual, was listed in satisfactory condition Thursday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Alcorn State has 3,000 students.

I just didn't know what to say when I found out. I knew of Jekelcy and I know the guy who was injured (Roddel). And this was just shocking to know that this happened to such cool, caring, good people. It's unbelievable to know that this went down because they were coming to the rescue of a young lady. It's unreal how many emotions I was feeling at the time of the news (sadness, anger, confusion, etc...) May God bless Jekelcy's soul and those who were near and dear to him. R.I.P.

Treasure and live life to the fullest you guys....
