We fired a coach who took us to the championship 4 times. Granted we lost 3 but that was dumb as hell, sure after while you like we gotta win one but that was the main decline firing Rick.

Naw, the main decline was hiring the wrong coach after firing Rick. Rick should have been fired. Him and his 3rd and long man to man defense coordinator Hayes.

He lost the last two doing the same thing. At some point, you have to make a move to get over the hump (see Tampa Bay hiring Gruden after Dungy kept losing in playoffs). The problem is firing a decent coach and going and hiring a person no sane person in the country would have considered hiring.

the UAPB loss was BS idk how that happened and SU one RB lost sight of the field that could have been 3-1 in championship games Rick should have stayed, but he got fired and hiring OMJ was completely insane i'll say that. JSU is/are skipping over good coaches. Hughes isn't the man for the job players reflect their coaches and I can tell by the way he acts when we lose games that he isn't the coach for JSU

I agree on the last part. Hughes will get one more year though to prove himself.

Rick got what he needed. A pink slip or non-renewal. Rick thought he could just out-talent teams and when he couldn't find those gems, his luck ran out. We had one of the best QBs in the last 15-20 years in Casey. How many SWAC Championships we won with him? We won one with Jimmy O only because he changed plays in the huddle.

we couldn't beat Bama State wasn't Rick fault I remember those games especially the one in the Vet were our WR kept juggling balls and not catching them letting Bama State catch pop up picks

Dude, EVERYTHING was Rick's fault. He was a defensive coach and couldnt stop playing man to man on 3rd and long? Had garbage ass safeties on the field that wouldn't been on a Juco team. His ass would have been fired earlier if I wasn't for Jimmy O.

Tell me this. How did UAPB beat us in the championship game?

They returned like a 80 yard fumble for one and that blitz on second down they were on the 5 it's justified, even though I would have bluffed blitz things happen they scored and won not all on him though as CB you don't give up the inside and that's exactly what happened. We in the 80/20 rule right now cause OMJ,Hughes and them aint doing shii,we should have kept Rick who got in recruits and played football. You can say what you want about Rick but these past years this bs we got now would have never happened with him. I know a couple high schools in Mississippi who offense more explosive than ours

We were in the Championship 4 of 8 years he was there. He was 2 games away from being in there 6 of his 8. His first year we were in contention. After Casey graduated Rick was only there two years and guess were JSU was? In Birmingham and Houston

Your post is the mentality that has us where we are. Complacent with mediocrity. That isn't the JACKSON STATE way. We keep trying till we get it right. Keeping Rick wasn' working. It was time to try something else. They just chose the wrong person.

Shii i'm not giving moral victories i'm saying RICK should have not been fired and if you gone fire him at least find somebody that been part of championships. We went and got OMJ that's disrespectful as hell to fans,students,alumni, hell the SWAC
