Alcorn is rolling, JSU is struggling: how the rivalry got to this point

What did JSU do to James Carson?
.....The Jackson State University family mourns the passing of longtime football coach James"Big Daddy" Carson. Carson, who stepped downed as the Tigers' head football coach in Mayof this year because of health reasons, passed away at12:12 a.m., Thursday, October 7. He was 59.
You know when that bluedog fella is off his meds when he posts stuff like that. Hahahaha!!

All I'm going to say, Meyer's home state is Virginia. She grew up in the Tidewater Area, which is enough information for me. IMO, many Blacks in Virginia have a lot of book sense, but very little practical knowledge. In order words, they lack the ability to understand how things work in real life applications. The difference is Trump has no book sense as well as no practical knowledge.
Dude, Meyers did some good things for JSU and made some mistakes along the way as well.
Last I heard, JSU's academic standing along with student increases was ranked higher than southern's under her tenure.
For you to even hint at comparing her to Trump, especially when she fought tooth and nail against racist Republicans in Mississippi's college board is unfounded.

IMO, she made some huge and costly mistakes, which forced her resignation. Maybe JSU should hire another female from the Virginia area. From my experience, their philosophy is totally different than those in the Deep South, especially Mississippi. They definitely believe in throwing money at stuff to make things work, such as JSU's recent football coaching hires. And she appeared to be completely clueless about Mississippi racist climate and how racist white folks in Mississippi operate. They will let someone like her go only so far with the way she was financially handling the university and then they would completely pull the plug on her.

Dude, quit contradicting yourself. You're using my words to disprove your point.

Not to put to fine of a point on it, but it would seem that you don't get to coach no amount of years and win anything since his firing.

Robert Hughes and James Bell didn't win you anything after y'all meased over James Carson and clearly you guys have fallen back into that same pattern of hiring and firing because of unrealistic idea of where you stand in the SWAC right now.

See that's why we did go through 8 years of mediocrity after we didn't renew Petes contract. We understood quickly that we suck, and after our previous AD made a bad hire we recognize it, fixed it and made a smart choice at a reasonable cost.

We know where we stand in the SWAC.

He so clueless. At the end of the day, she was not a bad President.

Then why she's no longer at JSU??? I guess she decided to resign on her own. IMO, it seemed liked her practical knowledge just wasn't there. When a person designs or constructs something, they pay special attention to the critical path of the project. From what I can tell, she didn't pay too much attention to the critical path of JSU's growth.

If that's the case, then why is southern's academic leadership still in place? Based on the U.S. News and World Report 2018 best HBCU college rankings, your leadership should've been canned a long time ago.

Jackson State University #15.....Southern University #38.

According to you all, she stole money. Stick to that.

Nope. I see you being the typical TP. Possession is 9/10th of the law and due to her impractical means (mismanagement) of running an university, she falls in that 1/10th category. Since she didn't possess/steal anything, the IHL Board allowed her to resign before they fired her for mismanaging the university's reserve funds. Basically, see saw a bank account full of money and she decided dip into it without creating a revenue stream to replenish what she takes out..

interesting and for good measures Alcorn is #19. oops Southern since this started about ASU/JSU not SU.

I never seen Alcorn or JSU campus so I wouldn't know. And academically they say Alcorn attract stronger and more serious students .... not an argument about rankings

true, basically JSU needs all the support they can get from the state. If they weren't in the capitol they'd be Valley.

Instead of a discussion about Da Queen's performance as JSU's president, somehow this topic has gotten switch to the academic rankings of universities published in US News. I do believe JSU was on the rise long before Da Queen got there. Again, IMO her poor leadership and mismanagement of school funds is the main reason why JSU has to cut, downsize, and re-structure its business model in order to build back its reverse funds. The way I see it, the IHL Board has pretty much stopped any growth of the university until its reserve funds are at a certain level and it's anybody guess to what dollar amount the IHL Board requires for reserve fund account balance before the university can get back to business as normal, with a sustain and BALANCE growth rate, which was something I think Da Queen was clueless.

Should you be more concerned about southern's disappointing #38 academic ranking than what's going on at some other school? Sheesh.
If Meyers was sooo bad for ten years, how did JSU maintain itself academically during her tenure?
Give the woman credit where she deserves. It wouldn't hurt you to do that will it.
