Bama was calling plays like Jason Garrett calls plays for the Cowboys. The running game can be a beast, but passing plays are called mostly. I ain't no Bama fan, but I was cussing them coaches out behind all that passing.
I think the win by Bama is a little tainted. A small blemish on the otherwise flawless face of the Crimson Tide season
I know you can't take away the Tide championship, but when the winningest quarterback in the history of college football is knocked out of the game early in the first quarter and is replaced by a true freshman understudy who had rarely played, it is safe to say that Bama received a huge break to say the least. And before folks say, Bama probably would have won nonetheless think about this.
1. You know Mack Brown and his staff had specific things they wanted to do to attack the Bama defense. Without McCoy those plans went out the window and they had to make an extreme adjustment.
2. Gilbert did eventually come around late in the third quarter and early in the fourth. But before that Gilbert had been 1-of-10 for -4 yards and a pick. I think if McCoy is still in the game, not only does Texas not have 24-6 surge to overcome, but they probably lead the game.
It took Gilbert too long to get comfortable in this game. McCoy would have taken advantage of Saban conservative approach.
Remember, Bama made a few special teams mistakes and the Texas defense stuffed the Tide passing attack. Imagine how different this game would have been if McElroy would have be forced to pass more than 11 times.
He had already was sacked four times in the first half and had less than 40 yards passing. The Tide probably don't pound the football with Ingram and Richardson as much as a result of being behind a few scores instead of trying to protect a lead.
The Tide are "national champions" but we don't know how different the game would have been if McCoy played more than one series.

Uh MH, I know you saw that Texas did have more fans at that game than U of A. I wasn't gone say nothing. But it shole looked like a lot of burnt orange in there. Even the Dr. Pepper exec who presented the trophy threw up his Hook em horns symbol. :lol:
I still stand by my comments as I was hanging out in L.A. prior to this game and went to the Rose Bowl for the Ohio State game. All the vendors out in Pasadena and L.A. talked about how the Ohio State and Texas fans were out there way deeper than anybody else. But of course I don't know what I am talking about and all of Bama was there. So I digress. And no it didn't help UT win that game.....not that is mattered to me since I aint a UT fan. But I do respect their school somewhat.

I wonder how this game would have turned out with that bad coaching in the beginning of the game by Saban had McCoy not go out after that first drive...
I think had McCoy stayed that would have been a touchdown on that first drive....
But all in all it was a good game.... UT really don't have nothing to hold their heads down about with the injury and all...

What I find funny on this board is the Alabama folk from the HBCUs on here are VERY VERY supportive of BAMA .... And the folks from Mississippi and Louisiana on here HATE LSU, MSU, and Ole Miss....
I'm trying to understand this logic...
I can't say I HATE LSU.... I dislike them for the same reasons I dislike mostly all PWCs... By being that most of the reasons of hate I hear towards these schools is because they are prejudice.... My question is why in same hell do alabama folk LOVE them some BAMA on here?

The kid was a USA and Gatorade Player of the Year in 2008 he has skills but played what was handed to him in last nights game......He was not prepared and it showed.......He has a bright future at UT......and what was up with running Newton all the time....its obvious that Whitaker and Monroe were better backs.....oh and that kid from Garland (84) wasnt that bad either.....Mack better get his shat together......people are starting to catch on to his bullshat (ie week schedules etc):shame:

Nope, I was right on it. UT had more fans and I said Bama would win the football game but it would be closer than some thought. So I would say I was dead on with my prediction. We can just agree to disagree. You just took it that I said Bama would not have no fans or not show up in huge numbers. Which I didn't. I just knew the bigger school with the bigger alumni chapter out there would have more folks in and out the stadium. Nothing more and nothing less. Bama got scoreboard on the football field where it counts the most. Trust me I know how it feels being that Ohio State outnumbers every school fans we play in those bowls, but it don't mean nothing when it comes to winning the game.
Now yall can go argue with TBJ on endowments or whatever yall were a few weeks back.

Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan and USC as well as a few others will always be alright, too much money involved and they have all the advantages in their favors. All Alabama has done is made all those in the leadership positions of the schools above go back to work a make bigger commitments to get their programs to top on a given year.
Now you can further view, why those in leadership position are not going to push for the playoffs, all of the fans are watching and engrossed by what the current system produces.
Big time college athletics, the "Business of Sports!"

Interesting. Well ole Mack is locked in over there. Vince Young helped him become a UT coaching legend and Colt McCoy got him a big raise and extension.
Greg Davis better hope ole Mack keeps him around. I wonder how long before folks ask the question if Major Applewhite is ready to be the OC. You know them UT folks love some Major. LOL.

Let's see can I help you...
1. Success-We enjoy seeing brothers have this kind of success, playing key roles at that.
2. Family Ties-We all know brothers and sisters @ or attended UA (non-athletes btw) who are good, down to earth folk...and successful.
3. Home state pride-Yeah racism's everywhere but apparently it's not as bad here as it is in MS./LA because most folks I know don't "HATE" Alabama's PWCs. They might not like 'em but hate?:lol: This is not Wallace's UA. These kids, born 40+ yrs. after all that went down don't care about it and rightly so. They see if for what it is, a dark time in U.S. history but now...try to take full advantage of the opportunities Ms. Vivian and others sacrifices provide.
4. High level football-We enjoy college football...played @ a high level, great defense, offense and coaching.

)/SEC Football, that was what was broadcasted and showcased allllllll the time, this was way before the Troy Sts, UAB, South Alabama football team creations. Big name ball was Alabama and Auburn, throw in that serious instate rivalry within the best football conference
D) and there you have a breeding ground for folk to be die hard. the majority of the people here do not wallow in the history racism(well most folks), hell if that were the case, we'd all never leave our homes. :lol: Take out the racism and politics, and it still leaves great football, point blank. Men(and women ) love big name football. Bama has now 13 national championships, they are naturally going to be the hometown fave, no way around it, just is. I don't understand why this is not understood, but then again, I was raised here.

We just don't have that problem over here. Like FAB5 said, we all have family members, or friends, or fraternity brothers/sorority sister who attended PWCs, and we love them just as much as we do our HBCU bretheren.
Does that mean we don't love our HBCU Alma Maters? Of cours not. Does it mean we are less Black? I don't think so. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who loves ASU more than me . . . and you'd also be hard pressed to find a bigger Bama football fan than me.
