Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

Our own stadium / basketball arena so we can bring in our own ideas/events for revenue without having to split anything. That is the only thing left in our puzzle. We got everything else built and in use.

The State can stonewall, cuss, and talk about no money all they want but in 2 maybe 3 years it is comming. JSU cannot sit in Memorial for another 10 years with major plans for that area already laid out by the City of Jackson and the State.

The STATE can't even move forward with their own plans for a regional medical hub with Memorial in the way. Everybody know this and that is why people are really not worried. It is just a matter of time and time is winding down for the STATE.........Not JSU. We can wait it out.

Only thing baseball need is for the grandstand to be built around the field. That won't "cost anything" since we would only be talking 900 to 1200 seats max.

JSU will be fine, we finally have the RIGHT LEADERSHIP in house to make it happen I am very glad that she is determined to make things such as the dome and other athletic changes it a reality....FINALLY THANK GOD...Grandstands are in order for the baseball team but it maybe after a coaching change.

As far as Alabama State they have the buildings which is important but do they have the financial means administration and fanbase to make it a reality....Im pretty sure that they will have a great home attendance this year and next but it will be interesting to see what will happen after that. As well as how are things going internally with the university and the scandal of funds being taken how is that going? if all those things can be fixed then they will be outta the SWAC which I dont think is a bad thing..LEAVE and NEVER Come back until new leadership takes over this black pit of a conference!

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

The way you guys talk, you'd think 1) Moving up is easy and 2) Being in FBS would create a financial windfall. Neither of which is true.

Moving up is EASY only if you get a conference invite. It's just paperwork after than. Financially, you automatically make more money, Making enough money to be successful is a totally different story but App State can have 5 straight losing season and I bet they would never look back at 1-AA football. There is nothing there.. especially not money.

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

good luck if ya'll do, you definitely are making your program more attractive to possible suitors

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

No school that has moved up in the last 20 years have had a easy time but they did it. Troy might have been a little bigger than us but their resources was no better than ours when they moved up. They making it so why do people think a HBCU can't do it. Troy ain't got no multi-billionare alums writing multi-million dollar checks yearly.
I understand what you're saying, but truth be told, troy was backed by health south's money. Their founder was on troy's board of trustees. He went to prison years ago, but before then, he had given big bucks to the school.

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

UNT and now texas state and then ut-sa are doing quite well. :(

I can easily see Bama St making the same transition. :read:

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

Wow, I mean if State wants to move up, why get mad or hate on them, Their just trying to better themselves...I wish them nothing but luck, Would love to see a HBCU in a D-1 confrence

They had Movie Gallary money too.

Good job Bama St. Our leadership in Normal is so poor that we won't be going any where no time soon. It is a sad day when a republican state senator has to stand up in the senate and ask that we get funded properly because none of the black ones said anything. Bama St has been getting way more funding then us for years.

Sounds like us :(

I can not hate on Alabama State at ALL if they move up. I want to see a SUCCESSFUL Division I-A HBCU in my lifetime.

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

If they did move to the Sunbelt theyd be in the perfect location in the east division as far as travel and getting teams to come to their stadium. South Alabama and Troy would likely be fairly huge attendance wise, ULM, ULL, App State, Georgia Southern and Georgia State would all be close games too.

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

UNT and Texas State has 30K students also to rely on student fees but their attendance nor results suggest moving to FBS has changed the landscape of the campus as they're way behind UT and A&M...Texas State is 20 minutes away from Austin and has no way the fan appeal of UT

If you go FBS, you better wait and do it right

But reading the article suggests ASU wants to explore but the Sun Belt wants others and wont consider ASU unless all others fail

But going Sun Belt means ASU has to play ULM, ULL, Texas State, etc. and actually put 15K in the stands not to fall short of attendance requirements.

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

With the leadership that we have at ASU I am certain that if we were allowed to move up we would screw it up. I think that we all need to examine TSU's move to the OVC before we go out there alone and make a move. Unlike the JSU, SU and Gram fans on this board we don't give a damn about playing ULL, ULM, Troy or any other PWC. The move to the Sunbelt is the probably the brainchild of Donald Watkins and some of his followers. The SWAC isn't perfect but it is better than playing the white boys in a brand new empty stadium.

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

If anyone in this conference is ready for D-1 it is Bama State.

Jackson State was in that position in the late 1999's, Bell came in and all the fans left.

Really???? Please elaborate...............

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

tbf, if you were in charge at either of unt, ut-sa, or tx st, none of them would ever move up. Stop hatin'. :smh:

Do you Bama St. I hope you guys seal the deal and make it happen.

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

at the end of the day what have they really accomplished by moving up? A New Orleans bowl bid :emlaugh: that bid pays lower than most BCF Classics

they're still one small step ahead of FCS in texas

ULM just let their AD go and he makes $110K and they have the smallest FCS budget..SWAC schools pay more so is FBS worth it?

SU vs UL is a natural rivalry with both schools 50 minutes apart. Not to mention Lafayette is a party city it's a win win. But I agree after the first couple of games with those other schools, the games will get stale. The social element would be missing.

It's all about getting a better class of athlete. And access to better payouts.

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

basically, we complain about promoters and classics but bottom tier FBS is pimping themselves to the Big 12, SEC for a check.

With the way the system is headed you'll never play for a BCS game so New Orleans bowl is what's expected?

UNT went 3 consecutive years and I'm proud they went. They were blown out by OU on consecutive years to the tune of 84-7 and 77-7 back-to-back. UNT received a guarantee of 750,000$ for participating in the NO bowl. UNT also received a guarantee of 750,000$ from OU for those beatdowns. Let me know when PVAMU can get above 400,000$ for ANY type of payday. :emlaugh: :retard:

UNT just completed a build of a new state of the art football stadium. PV has....*crickets*

I wouldn't laugh or demean something that is EONS BETTER than what you have and an institution that is obviously SUPERIOR to yours in ALL facets. :D lol Comparing UNT in anything athletic or academic to PVAMU is like comparing a college/university to an elementary school. lol Now, that's funny. I attended both so be careful. I KNOW the "ratchetness" of PV and some of its ratchet dumbassed employees.

Re: Alabama State Looking To Leave The SWAC? I think so, the handwriting was on the

So basically go D-1, play OU and get beat down for a shot at the New Orleans Bowl which offers the lowest payout amongst bowls, yes...we're missing alot by not moving up

again, how has ULM benefited from moving up? The Sun Belt has changed and worse geographically now so that's not going to translate into interest and revenue....so they to the PWC Classic solution and pimp themselves out
