That swing and sway looks good when the whole band is doing it with those plumes shaking!! Talking about an awesome sight!
Dowell Taylor has that young brother ready!
They did make an attempt at doing swing and sway last year but it wasn't taugh like Little is doing it. Little is making sure everyone is uniform.

Didnt DT supposedly "bring it back" in 2012? What's the difference now? Alum wasn't happy with it from 2012?
Dnt give dowell to much credit. Little was ready Before coming to JSU. He was my high school director trust me I know. I remember telling hollenger Bck in 09 mr little was gone take his job and Hollenger got mad and he made me do duck crawls. LolDowell Taylor has that young brother ready!

I never liked Lanier being I went to Murrah but Little did have yall alright I'll say lol. That man had to been prepping for this job since he was under Liddell back in his college days. Dude came to JSU in 2012 as a drum instructor and found his way to marching band director in 3 years. Not knocking Hollinger, but Little did his thing these last few years he been there.
Some of us have a bit of revisionist history. Nobody from Liddell's era was against swing and sway. Most were mad he altered it. And seing and sway was never the original marching style anyway. Truth be told, Liddell took the style back to the original style. Remember he marched under Davis. We had this same discussion when Taylor took back over, lol! Swing and sway as we know it was mostly a Dowell Taylor era thing. It was never as defined before or after him.If you read it was already stated that it was attempted. But not like Little is doing. That's why I said officially. And only the Liddle era folk weren't happy. He is only one Director. We have the Haughton, Davis, Taylor bands as well.
Papa Dupe(Mr. Duplessis) preached swing and sway long before Taylor got there. That was his motto, along with 64 up and 64 back! Taylor upheld it and it kind of got away after Taylor left the first time along with marching and everything else. Some of us have a bit of revisionist history. That's why I said as we know it. It was more pronounced as the years rolled on. Look at old '70's Haughton era and you will see it, but it got more promounced in the 80's. Most people thinking swing and sway now is the Taylor version they remember because that was more of the TV / BET era. I've got family members that were in the Boom before the nockname, lol! I've seen 60s and 70s grainy old footage. The swing and sway style evolved with Taylor putting his stamp on it. But truth be told, the originals hated that marching style. Liddell was from those early to mid 60s. Its no coincidence he started getting rid of it or at least cutting it down. I like swing and sway. I hope Little puts his stamp on it. But every director has tweaked the style at least to their liking a bit.Papa Dupe(Mr. Duplessis) preached swing and sway long before Taylor got there. That was his motto, along with 64 up and 64 back!
