30 for 30: The Bad Boys

Lebron is 270 pounds of pure muscle...they would hurt THEMSELVES more than they would hurt Lebron.

 Man cmon. You had Laimbeer, Mahorn, and James (Buddah) Edwards, in the front court along with Salley and Rodman. The first two names I mentioned would have LeBron dazed and confused if he came through the lane.
But ok.

We talking skinny Rodman and Salley, right?

If the Detroit Bad Boys played in the NBA today with that style, all of them would have multiple 20 game suspensions if not season suspensions handed out against them. .....

Yeah. Compared to how the game's played today, they were playing prison ball. lol!

once again how did that make the game better? It sounds ignorant... the object of the game is to score points without fouling.... how is leaving someone dazed and confused making the game better? ANY dummy can make someone dazed and confused.... prison yard full of players who leave others dazed and confused.

I think the league is as good now as it was back then.

One could make the argument that it's got worse because of expansion, but the NBA's only added like 6 teams since the Bad Boys. Not enough expansion to really impact the level of play. Some make the argument that High schoolers and one-and-doner's are stinking up the league, but the NBA's global appeal has attracted quality players from other countries so it kind of evens out.

Answer this....what makes you think that either Laimbeer or Mahorn would hurt themselves more than they would hurt LeBron?

If the NBA still played with the same rules they played with back in the day. it would of been a few dead players, a ton of concussions, and a lot of broken bones. Players today are so much stronger.

Also changed the rules to weight the game more toward offense due to sagging ratings..

Exactly, nobody wants to watch a hackfest. I used to hate those NBA on NBC games on Sunday afternoon any time the Knicks, Pacers, and etc. played because it was gone be brutal 82-78 or some crappy score like that.

P.S. Chuck Daly had to play to their strengths. That wasn't an overly talented or athletic team, so they had to make up for that by using intimidation.

LOL!

They called flagrant fouls back then, too. It was illegal in the 1980s and 90s to do all of that stuff the Pistons did.

This is the greatest flop ever.

Pistons were my favorite team & Isaiah was my favorite player

Isaiah doesn't get anywhere near the respect he deserves. What Superstar player can say they beat Bird, Magic, and Jordan

People ever stop and think that maybe LeBron would have just played the style of the game from back then. So essentially you've got an NFL sized tight end giving hard fouls in the NBA.

I agree. But the moment they walked off the court against the Bulls and he started ducking (walking behind Laimbeer) to avoid the cameras, sealed his fate... He quit.... And nobody likes a quitter......

Chuck Daley pulled all the starters at that point because the Pistons were down by 21 in the final minute.

Where does quitting come into all of this? The game was over. Bad sportsmanship? Yeah. Quitting? Nah.

John Salley said the only reason they walked off the court against Chicago because the Celtics had done the same thing against them in the 1988 ECF.

Noticeably absent from the piece was Magic Johnson. They had James Worthy but no Magic? I heard that Isiah and Magic's relationship went from sugar to shit but I figured that one could at least be objective when it comes to the game of basketball. I would've loved to hear what Magic had to say about witnessing Isiah go off for 25 points in the third quarter of game 6. And doing it all on a sprained ankle.

And another dude on that Detroit squad that I was always leery about was James Edwards. Back then I was a little kid but something about dude seemed murderous. He's the only cat in the NBA to sport a Fu Manchu. His Fu Manchu man him look treacherous.
