- Defense was solid early in the game. They made stops or got turnovers in the first four possessions. Lots of pressure up front

- Eventually, the offense caught fire with a mix of some quick scoring strikes and long time consuming drives.

-Rushing attack looked good today.

- Quad Brown and Maurice Edwards (starting QB and RB) was held out of action for cautionary reasons.

The best thing about this team will be competition. A lot of second string guys are really pushing the No. 1s and current starters.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference will hold its annual Football Media Day on Wednesday, July 15, beginning at 10:00 a.m. CST at the Sheraton-Birmingham.

All 12 SWAC head football coaches along with two student-athletes from each institution will be present to discuss the upcoming 2026 season.

The conference will also unveil its 2026 SWAC Football Predicted Order of Finish during the event.

One-on-one interviews with coaches and student-athletes will be available starting at 10:00 a.m. CST. A full list of attending coaches and student-athletes will be announced at a later date.

Apparently this is part of the commissioner's plan to host neutral site games and control the gates. This will be a SWACTV game so I guess from that perspective, I'm good with it but it's a season opener so I definitely can see your perspective as well. Whoever home game this is misses out on a big gate

Jaguar05 I don't know if you were here for the MEAC?SWAC Challenge when Southern play FAMU, the city was electric with Rattler and Jag Fans all over the place - man the game was midday (ESPN set the time - I was doing consulting work with the SWAC at that time and I kept telling them from the very first MEAC/SWAC Challenge that black folks do not sit in the sun in August/September and that if the game is going to be Labor Day weekend it needs to be on Sunday in the evening, it will be the only show in town and it would be a much bigger event - but I digress) - folks were falling out all over the place, we didn't have enough emergency vehicles on site to cover the amount of people that were having heat related incidences, it was almost more fans UNDER the stands than sitting in the stands due to heat. I remember Dr. Jackson - SU Band Director at the time saying alums were in his ass because the band was in t-shirts and shorts instead of their band uniforms - wooooooo he was PISSED lol

there's a game earlier than that Labor Day Weekend lol

I remember the 11 am / 12 p.m. Meac SWAC kickoffs - wasnt pretty
 
It has been confirmed - at least up to this point - the Bama State/Southern game will be at 2:00 PM, ESPN set the time. This leads me to believe this game is going to be on ESPNU or ESPN2, because if it were going to be on ESPN3/Plus, the game time wouldn't matter.
