2014 Alcorn FB Schedule

I don't why know people are more upset with Alcorn scheduling Louisiana College when clearly Virginia University of Lynchburg, VA (VUL) is their weakest opponent. But I agree, they both appear to be out of their league.

They could have just played Miss College and Millsaps.
They are both D3 schools IN Jackson Mississippi.

So much for everybody in the conference upgrading their schedules.

I didn't know that community colleges and 4-year colleges can be in the same athletic conference.

They can't be in Mississippi.
If you are a 4 year university, you can't even play a JUCO in Mississippi unless you are another JUCO.
This is the first time I have ever heard of this.

I can't lie, I would like to see us play some MEAC schools. I would even go for CIAA or SIAC schools if they are the right ones. We should have gone to Southeastern Louisiana and tried to get a home and home with them. They were tough the last time we played them. I'm just hoping that this isn't going to be a long term trend. Besides, nobody says anything when Florida State, Alabama, UGA, Georgia Tech, and other FBS schools schedule us as opponents. When we do it, it's a problem.
Either way, if I can make those games, I'll be there with my purple and gold on cheering on the Braves just like I will be there for Southern, Texas Southern (homecoming), Jackson State, and maybe one or two other games on campus if I can manage it. Plus, I'll be at at least ONE away game.

And if the rumor going around is really going to happen, I'll be catching a flight somewhere for a Braves game.

Well yal talked about our schedule last year too and we still kicked all yal butts. We gave A&M that game and we were just flat against Bama State. Just step between them sidelines and talk with those pads

Oh now there is a criteria too who people should play?

Ahh................... Everybody has universally said that we ALL need to stop scheduling games like this. Stillman, Concordia, Lincoln, Allen, Edward Waters, etc don't need to be on any of our schedules. You gonna play somebody, play somebody. At least a really good D2.

But P, folks say the same thing about the FBS schools playing us. We play them only for money. Those schools you listed play us for money.

Yep.
Talking about it this year too. Difference is NOBODY will take Alcorn lite this year. You are known for having one OK year and then nothing the next 10 years.

And you see FBS moving away from it too. I don't mind "playing down" but dam................. Louisana College, Edward Waters? We can do better at scheduling by just "cold calling" schools.

And i know fort valley backed out from us so instead of us playing them for our HC, we are playing UAPB and added some damn school Central Methodist to our schedule. Lord help us all lmao

Dude y'all weren't on our level last year. Playing schools like this last year and this year to inflate your record doesn't impress me.

I wish we could keep Delta State on our schedule every year but Mississippi wants them to rotate around with the SWAC schools. If we have to play the D2 schools as some have said, they most likely need to be the WSSU, Tuskegee or Morehouse of the world. I don't think too many people will complain about SWAC schools scheduling name schools like that.

I still want to see us put more MEAC schools on the schedules and the other regional FCS schools

I understand that we should play a tough schedule but you cannot make a team play you. We donot have the budget to go everywhere just for the sake of a "so call better game". Seven home games give us a chance too make money to be able to play the home and home with other teams without needing money in return. And at the end of the day we still have to beat the other teams in this conference to have a chance too get too the championship game. And until we start consistantly winning our conference games than we can go after the bigger fish.

But home games don't automatically make you money. You have to break even. Logistically, one would think that the better the opponent, the better the chance to make a profit. At least Alcorn will make money at Homecoming, vs SU, and vs JSU to balance out the games where you will lose money.

This is not true.

Can't argue with these points either. As some have said, these internet AD's will never be satisfied. Sometimes you have to look out for you first
