I know that we will give our own opinion of who is the top 3 on band rankings, but we go on about who is and who is not a power band. Maybe we need to have 2 different categories 1. Power Band 2. Musicality.
And you all know as well as i do, when most bands become a power band they are no longer a musical band with dynamics and so on. Most band styles are not designed for power.
You say that we are in our rebuilding stage, true enought maybe, but with in our rebuilding, we will keep our own tradition and style.
Most bands when they do fall off, they tend to grasp or obtain someone else's style.
our band program started in 1926, and we have had the same tradition for over 75 years. Most other bands have fell off and stole some one else's style.
not putting down any one, but look at many bands that chose to give up there own style and went to some one else's style.
Valley -- they use to be core style and they use to be a power band in there sound and marching was superb. but they decides to go Show Style. When they did that, it wasnt a pretty picture. But it does take a while to make a major comeback.
Alcorn -- Now many of you have known that Alcorn is or was a copy cat band. Even last year one of the drum major's came on here and apologized to many of our band, cause their band was going to display all our band summed up in to one band. But over this past year and there band camp, they have displayed that they can hold there own sound and style.
UAPB -- They are a good band, they are superb in the stands, but there field shows are copied from others past shows. Stay with your own shows and style, and dont let new people come in and change you for nothing.
TXSU -- They was good 2 years ago, and they are about to fall of the field, quickly if some one dont take control of there power sound. This band is load as hell, but its like there is a war going on between the sections. When you percussion is loader then your own band, its time for reconstruction. BASS DRUMS, you are not a Drum and Bugle corp. KILL IT!!!! They are tryna be SU, Jackson and Grambling in one. One good thing i can stay bout them, Torture is a good ass power tune.
PVAMU -- PLease stay with your musical style you have had in the past years cause if you dont you will end up sounding likw TXSU.
BAMA ST. -- This band has made a major come back, many of you didnt no that they did fall off. When many bands change directors or a whole staff at one time, the band member will leave cause they dont want to get caught up in the kaos. And thats what happened to BAMA STATE. WHen we went to Swac championship in 2001, i asked on the ASU band members why there band was so small (68+ members) and he told me about the administrative change. And like i was sayin when they changed the band changed as well.
CANT SAY NOTHING ABOUT AAMU because i have never heard them, actually i have never seen them, can some one please find a clip on this band, so i can hear what they sound like.
But people stay with your own style and if you have an original style, please go back to that,

f course every band has taken an idea from another band,that was part of the game.I wish some of these "newschool" "bandsmen" would learn some music in something other than F Minor and at a dynamic level other than FFF with screaming F-Horns & B-tones!!!!!!!I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but have some facts to support it!!!!!!
For you to know so much about us, it seems that you are still mistaken. The only Dir. we had from Gsu was Harold Bray who came in 1995. We've taken no traits whatsoever from GSU. Key point, 
Seems to me like you already have. I won't get into this either. But to say that Bama St has copied Grambling.......I will let some else step IN.
As much as I love/hate ASU, I must say that they are rich in band heritage that dates back to the 60's and I do know that their Turkey Day entrance in which you speak of, has been going on for decades; and was not "taken" from Grambling.
