Mane, ain't nobody ever held Kobe to 18 points except Kobe.

In 2 games vs the Bulls this season, Kobe averaged 18.5 points. That's 13 points below his season average of 31.7. In 3 games vs the Bulls this season D-Wade averaged 16.3 points per game. That's 11 points below his season average of 27.4 points per game. The Bulls can play defense--bottom line.

Not true. Avery had a terrible game plan.
Dirk had Monta guarding him on the block several times, but the guards refused to get him the ball. Instead, the chose to shoot jump shots.
All Dallas needs to do is pound it inside over and over and over; they need to make Golden State a jump shooting team by playing a tight zone; and walk the ball up the court. Golden State hates to play half court offense and half court defense.
This is not rocket science folks.

Dallas failed to use their advantage against G-State, plain and simple.

Cosign.

Jay Rob, perhaps I'm not fully understanding what you're saying, because I swear Avery tried to do that last night and it backfired on him when Diop got in foul trouble and Erick Dampier got ran off the floor!

Call it a terrible game plan if you will, but I don't consider it terrible when they played their REGULAR lineup during the season and experienced the same results! :look: Golden State has ALWAYS been a jump shooting team the entire season and didn't try to hide it last night. So what's your point by saying Dallas needs to play a zone more! In the end, they'll still be playing into Golden States strength, which is having 4/5 people on the floor that can play all positions and shoot the ball. Trust me, of the 5 starters--4 of which are guard oriented--, SOMEBODY will be hot that night. They just have to find the hot hand early.

Didn't you read that GS lead the league in three pointers made and attempted? Didn't you also read that they lead the league in steals, 3rd in blocks, and 2nd in points scored? With all of that being said, do you really think Nellie cares if they play their big men and play a zone with them?  Watch what happens when Erick Dampier and Diop start next game and they try to pound the ball to Dirk in the paint all night...........steal after steal, after steal!   I guess you don't think Nellie can play a zone either! :lmao:

Frat, what are you talking about..one game! Dallas has lost to GS 7 times straight dating back from the regular season. Call it what you want, but I call it Nellie knowing Dallas' weakness!

Some teams just know how to prepare and beat other teams. Bottom line! Aint no hate for Dallas here, I'm just a person looking at the facts. Dallas has not beaten GS at all this regular season....PERIOD! :smug:

Agreed...AJ had a bad game plan. Don't think for one second Dallas is gonna fold like a bad poker hand. And Dallas only played Golden State 3 times this year. Where did you get 7 games straight from?

Anywho...MAVS IN 5.

It will likely be a longer series than 5 games. Dallas has no answer for B Davis (D Harris is too little & J Howard is not quick enough). If Dallas can't beat them with Diop or Dampier in there, they might be in trouble. G State's small ball is better than Dallas' small ball.

G State has beaten Dallas 6 of their last 7 meetings (including the '05-'06 season, this season & playoffs)....

CS, Dallas would be better of walking the ball up the court, consistently pounding it inside to wear down GS. Dirk and Dampier, and other Maverick players have a better post up game than they've been utilizing.
The Dallas guards need to recognize a mismatch and get the ball to that post up player immediately, i.e., Monta guarding Dirk in the post.
Dirk/ Dampier passes to the cutter for an easy layup/dunk because GS has no shot blockers and poor interior defense.

GS is too quick off the dribble for Dallas to play them straight man to man.
Dallas has to pick it's poison, which is to allow layups or jump shots.
If GS is shooting jump shots, they must get a hand up and hope that most of the shots don't fall.
I'd rather someone shoot threes most of the game than layups.
Dallas also must get more physical with GS.

If Avery does this, Dallas should win. If he doesn't, they'll more than likely be down 0-2.

Again...BD is a victim of his own success. He had a great game Sunday. He will be ICE COLD the next.

He was ICE COLD in game 1 in the first half. He was missin' layups. Between B Davis, M Ellis & S Jackson, one of them will likely be hot. Davis is the x-factor because even if he is cold from the perimeter, he can ge tto the foul line against any Mavs defender.

You're joking right! You actually consider Erick "paddle hands" Dampier and Dirk "I love the jumpshot" Nowitzki true post up players! :whatever: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Ummm..Monta guarding Dirk was by accident because of all the switching they did up front. I doubt you'll see Monta guarding Dirk ever again in this series unless it's in the open court or something. Again, you said Golden State doesn't have any shot blockers but yet they were 3rd in the league in blocks this season. C'mon JayRob, you gotta do better than this!

The first statement is why this is a hard match up for Dallas. They can't guard all of Golden States 1-5 starting lineup without having to sacrifice size for speed or vice versa! Either way, Nellie ball is working wonders for Golden State and giving Dallas fits. Yes, Dallas is a veteran team with three legitimate play-makers in Stackhouse, Dirk, and Terry. However, you and I both know that all things equal out when you have collective team speed to combat that, which is exactly what Golden State has and Dallas doesn't!

Josh howard is a legitimate play-maker as well. But I'm pulling for Golden State.

Yeah, I forgot about Josh Howard. Perhaps we can substitute him for Jerry Stackhouse since he aint nearly the player he used to be. So that's only still 3 playmakers!

I'm pulling for Golden State because after seeing them at full force and injury free, I've begun to realize they can really play! Don Nelson is a helluva coach!

I stopped reading. Right there. This solidifies the fact that you think like a vast majority of the current nba'ers and ncaa'ers. Y'all don't know basketball. :emlaugh: mavs have a post up game?.....:emlaugh:

Carry on though. I guess.

Exactly Panthro!  People say a lot of foolish things without thinking first and try to pass it off as logic. :shame: I bet this the first time that a lot of people got a chance to see Golden State play at all this season! :smh:

Those boys are really good and all people can think about is the fact that they haven't reached the playoffs in 13 years, and so they must still be the same old sorry team as before! :smh: What a BIG surprise they'll be in for once they see they really have weapons all over the floor!

Don't tell'em. They didn't sweep dallas this year for nothing and whether they will admit or not, Nellie's a heckuva coach. :retard:

I thought some folx up in hur knew, and not "new" lol, basketball. :shame:

Coldsweat, you need to break out in a cold sweat for that out of proportion information you just gave, and you Panthro should be ashamed of yourself for falling for that stuff without checking up on it first. I thought you were a veteran.

New Jersey is first in blocked shots. Golden State is tied with two other playoff teams for blocked shots.

Golden State has only ONE player in the top twenty who's averaging more than one block per game. ONE player.
As a team, they only get five or six blocks per game. That's nothing considering that they put up and give up more shot attempts than any team in the league other than phoenix.

The Golden State Warriors have the WORST DEFENSE of ANY team in the playoffs. They give up 107 points per game and only score 106 points per game. Again, GOLDEN STATE HAS THE WORST DEFENSE OF ANY PLAYOFF TEAM. Even the Wizards have a better defense.

Dallas can easily post up on Golden State, but they've never put forth a consistent effort for an ENTIRE game in trying to do so.
Coldsweat, you and Panthro need to get your facts straight before you try and straighten anyone else out.

Now break out in a coldsweat on dat.

Some of you guys have gotten carried away because a team can score points.
Defense wins in the playoffs, NOT offense.

Nellie may be a helluva coach on offense, but he stinks to high heaven when it comes to defense. That's why his teams almost always get put out in the first round, if they ever make the playoffs to begin with.
This year will be no different.

If Avery uses his players correctly for an entire game, Dallas will win the next 4 out of 5 games.

If my auntie had nuts, she'd be my uncle. If, if, if... We'll see come next game exactly what's what won't we. I won't speculate. Too many variables. But I will say this, Dallas has NO semblance of a big-man/inside banger and NO low post game. Thank gawd they brought Kevin Willis out of retirement @ the grand old age of 42. He's an inspiration to the rest of us old'uns.

WORST DEFENSE!!!! NUFF SAID.

Yada...yada...yada...and with all of that said, you still didn't make your point. And I see you conveniently left out the fact that Golden State led the league in steals per game!  What does that say?

Overall, yes Golden State gave up A LOT of points per game, but that's primarily because of the way the play...fast pace and as Charles Barkley and Co. referred to--helter skelter! Hell, Phoenix and New Jersey gave up a lot of points too per game for that matter. I wont get into this debate over supposed hypothesis' about game plans and what Dallas could do if this and if that! :smh: All I'll say is that Golden State has OWNED Dallas for 6 straight games and the former coach of Dallas is giving them the business.

As for your comments above, the bottom line is to look at the facts.......

Golden State is 2nd in the league in points scored per game: FACT.

Golden State is 3rd in the league in blocks per game: FACT.

Golden State is 1st in the league in steals per game: FACT.

Golden State is 4th in the league in assists per game: FACT.

Look it up....I dare you!

They may be first in the league in steals and in other offensive categories.
But the bottom line is they're LAST in giving up points.
Winning playoff games is about POINTS given up and defensive percentages.

Golden State is not last in team defense out of the playoff teams, they are last in team defense out of the thirty teams in the NBA. The Hawks and Grizzlies had a better defense.
They rank number 30.
They are last, look it up. I dare you. FACT.
