In my honest opinion, yes they were. On paper, we looked horrible last season, but if you look closely at that paper, you'll see that the majority of our games (SWAC)were very close losses:
UAPB vs. Alabama State (loss by 1 point)-we were trailing the Hornets 0-21 (at home in PB) in the 1stQ and made a huge comeback. I wasn't able to make that game but it didn't stop me from crying when we lost! (yes, I cried when we lost that game):bawling: UAPB 39 vs. Alabama State 40
UAPB vs. Alcorn- again, at home, we lost by 5 points......UAPB 16 vs. Alcorn 21
UAPB vs. Jackson-you were there; it seems like my boys just ran out of steam....lost by 9 points.........UAPB 33 vs. JSU 42
UAPB vs. Southern-our homecoming; we were doing very well when we fumbled the ball with less than 1 minute left in the game; SU capitalized on our mistake and won. I wasn't there for that game (it was my Daddy's 70th bday celebration)......UAPB 21 vs. SU 29
UAPB vs. MVSU-Itta Bena (their homecoming). It was our first win for the season and our boys played very well. I had a good time there. UAPB 38 vs. MVSU 18 (but they may get their revenge on us this season).
UAPB vs. GSU-in Pine Bluff. That game was a back-and-forth offensive game. The coach for GSU was one of our former defensive coaches (Dirt Winston). We outscored GSU, but barely...........UAPB 45 vs. GSU 42
UAPB vs. AAMU-in Normal, AL. Another offensive game, but my folks just couldn't get it done. Another disappointing loss by 8 points........UAPB 42 vs. AAMU 50
So, as you can see, we had some close games. Even our game against McNeese, our boys started off very well and were hanging in there with McNeese. The only 2 SWAC schools that totally shut us out were the 2 Texas schools (UAPB 28 vs. TXSU 41 and UAPB 23 vs. PVAMU 43 in Texas........I thought I was going to freeze at that game.....rain, cold, and windy).
We didn't have any defense last season. If our boys had gone to class and not caused us to become ineligible, I'm sure we would have won more than 2 games. I just hope they've learned their lesson and that we win at least half of our games this year.
Mane pick a team Lol....
Since you insist, I would say sTu because if we come into that game with the Big head  sTu hate us just enough to bring their "A" game and hit us in the mouth. Plus I had a nightmare the other day that we were just flat and lost that game 16-15 :smh:

WIN when u do go but until then.......
We already did that in '07 just in case you forgot. Alcorn can't even win it's own division, much less a championship game.
Again, when Alcorn claims the East, then talk.
By the way, who in hades is Louisiana College? Sounds like a community college.
Yes they were close.

Yall make sure you good folks up there take care of our boy(Briggs) from the LAB who is now gone from Kitten to LION.

We thank you for sending him our way and hope that, from one former OL to another, he's learned valuable techniques. And as you said, he's now a (GOLDEN) LION, which means he's one of our boys now. Again, we sincerely thank you and will take very good care of him!

And congratulations. I see that the Jukebox has a new tenor drummer on their drumline. I know you must be very, very proud. Perhaps one day in the future we will see him back as DM......leading the Jukebox on the field!![]()
Thanks 96! :ebrow:
I was in Prairie View this past Monday to bring my youngest back to school. I got a chance to see the Panthers during practice. They looked good. I saw of precision with passing and completions. Good runs and some pretty good speed.

American Southwest Conference. They finished 7-3. I guess they are DIII

He use to have Evangel on top back in the day. I remember when West Monroe called them out saying ECA was playing in the lower class (3A) but couldn't hang with the big boys (5A). Dunn moved them up and whooped WM's ass everytime he faced them in the playoffs!!!! :lol:Honestly, I think Dennis Dunn is a pretty good coach.

Hey Jay!!!!!
SportsTalk. What are you wanting/expecting to see from this JSU's team? What is your expectation?
For me, it is always the offensive line play and entire defense. Those 2 showed our immaturity last early last season.....especially those 50 pt games. Also, I would really like to see less mental penalties. An experienced oline shouldn't be having procedure calls after 7 games into the season.
Congrats Jax, but deep down you know he'd be much better if he was playing with the BOOM.
More discipline and fewer penalties. Precise WR routes and smart QB play. A more aggressive defense with fewer dumb penalties like running into the kicker.:smh:
 Thanks and ummmm....Negative. He said he wanted a challenge and the boom was too easy to get in. He mentioned something about LLI's All Star band here being more challenging than the boom.
#SipsTea

In other words, he fears the BOOM. LOL!
He learned how to fabricate from the best of 'em. When he see the BOOM march in, he gone say, "DAMN, my dad lied to me.":emlaugh:
