2025 Football Schedules

Not the biggest fan of our schedule, but folks had smoke for other schools pulling the same crap.

When a SWAC school that's like 9-2 or 8-3 with solid OOC wins and is in the neighborhood of an at-large playoff bid ... the committee will point to crap like this as a reason NOT to award that at-large spot.

My thoughts on this is it shouldn’t be a big surprise. Bama State is merely fulfilling their obligation as we played them year before last non conference. IMHO, this is a formidable schedule. S.U. is playing the top 3 teams in the East, an FBS (Fresno) and a team that has been in and out of the FCS top 25 NCCU the last two years. No sub FCS, and a pay day for MVSU if this isn’t outside of home and home contract. Three of the four non conference games are challenging. I applaud the 2025 schedule….With jsu, pv, FAMU, Bama St, TXSU coming to B.R., it doesn’t get too much better than this from a fan and revenue vanish point.

I'm planning to go and see the G-Men spank JSU's ass in Vegas.
JSU Vs. Gram in Vegas? Wow!

A work conference gave me the opportunity to see my favorite sports team (The Raiders) in Allegiant Stadium back in December of 2023. It was my first time in Vegas. I learned that even if you are not a gambler, that city is going to come at you with all kinds of vices and unexpected entertainment fees to get them $$$.

Even though I carefully watched what I spent, used Spirit Airlines, and spent a final night in the airport, I still barley made it out $$$ ....LOL <--it was fun though.

Much respect to both schools for making this happen...

@Fiyah dang how you gone delete my comment like that? Come on playa that was good comic relief … @Kenn Rashad , did DEI effect this board ? Blink twice if 47 got to y’all too. I’m not even hijacking lol 😂 damn shame. Help a brotha out.

I will say this about the schedule. It’s manageable.

On paper, there are no three-game runs of conference games like Prairie View and Alcorn that could decide the division for Southern. Only one game from Homecoming to the Classic is against a non-West Division team.

All of the more important conference games are at Mumford — Jackson, PV (Homecoming), FAMU and Texas Southern.

The longest conference road games — at Bethune-Cookman and at Arkansas-Pine Bluff — are basically trap games.

The road trip to Daytona is after Jackson and a bye week, but it’s one week before homecoming.
The road trip to UAPB is after FAMU and before going to the Reservation to play Alcorn.

We do have bye weeks sandwiching the Jackson game since it’s two weeks after the trip to Fresno (hey Toni Childs!) and we have two weeks before going to Bethune.

My biggest criticism is not getting a sixth home game and going to Itta Bena to play Valley. I guess we couldn’t find a rowdy-poo to open the season with at home.

I think if you’re going to rid yourself of sub FCS teams but strategically find balance, one has to start somewhere. MVSU is a good start. It’s up to AD Banks to find that balance. However, one has to find a willing partner while being strategic. I’ll give Banks the benefit of the doubt. In my mind, we’re not good enough yet to take BCU, UAPB or Valley (see FAMU) lightly. It’s up to T.G. to make sure S.U. doesn’t get trapped, and that’s why he makes the big FCS bucks, so I don’t worry about that. I just don’t have an issue with playing Bama State non conference. Great facilities on the road and a game at home that interest our fans. Both of these teams will eventually fall off the non conference schedule, we owe Nichols state a road game (possibly in 2026) and we’ll see what AD Banks does from there.

Valley has finally done the SWAC opponents as OOC games thing. Yall know how I feel about it even when Valley is involved but we do have an interim AD and a 1st year HC

I do recall that you all lost to Grambling last year, so that ass kicking is new. lol
..and when I left that hole, I knew Gramberling was SORRY. You wont stand a chance in Vegas unless you do some heavy recruiting, hire some new coaches and do a lot of soul searching.

Am I the only one who is not crazy about moving a game to Vegas that far into the season.

I'm going just for the experience! I don't see us going back there any time soon. You will be going too! Just as soon as your LBs and your YE bruh's start putting those plans in place! 🤣 🤣 🤣

And 350 is not a lot unless transp, lodging, and other travel related exp are also covered.

350K is not the payout. That's just how much the city is kicking in to help sponsor the game. It will cost at least $600-700K to get the band and the football team out there. BUT you do know Ashley is our AD, right? We aint coming back with nothing less than what we would have made at home... NET.
