Let the debate begin 😂 My list is based off overall record, # of SWAC titles, head-to-head, experience, etc. (don’t kill me just my opinion so let’s have a fun debate):

  1. Fred McNair (41-29) 2 SWAC titles
  2. Willie Simmons (33-12)
  3. Connell Maynor (94-51) 1 SWAC
  4. Eric Dooley (26-21)
  5. Hue Jackson (11-44)*NFL (3-8)*NCAA
  6. Eddie Robinson (6-5)
  7. Bubba McDowell (6-5)
  8. Clarence McKinney (9-27)
  9. Ed Reed (1st yr)
  10. TC Taylor (1st yr)
  11. Alonzo Hampton (1st yr)
  12. Kendrick Wade (1st yr)

I really wanted to rank Hue Jax lower, but I’m giving him a pass based on NFL experience. However, I’m not a big fan of his body of work.

Confused Gary Coleman GIF

I think ER is a damn good coach considering it was his first year with no real coaching experience.
Bro E-Rob got me nervous as a AAMU alum. He’s got great facilities and he’s doing his thing in recruiting. He’s gonna be a problem. Just got that vibe about him that he can be special. It’s different when you’re working for your alma mater …. meanwhile Maynor is interviewing at NCAT, but I digress.

I will end your dilemma. Hue is ranked too high. From what he showed in 2022 he earned bottom third on your list just above the first year coaches. His poor coaching decisions alone lost winnable games against BCU, AAMU, and SU.

Probably should wait a season or two for the new ones.

It's 2023 season. You can't wait until 2025 when the season starts in 2023. 😂 Not saying I favor the poll, but waiting two years the math ain't math 😂

Well, I said ONE or two for the coaches who don't have a HC'ing history. That would mean doing the 4 new coaches in Dec 2023 at the earliest.

Not defending Mckinney but he didn't he beat McNair, Jackson, Dooley , Robinson and would have beaten A & M coach except for the player switching ball, allegedly, I think he was going into his victory dance prematurely.

Hue has more pressure on him than any coach in the conference going into next season.
He just doesn’t have the right personality for leadership. He has always been a decent coordinator, which is why he keeps getting head coaching jobs. This needs to be his last HC gig

got to throw in environment as a factor - can #1 win at #12 and can #12 win at #1?

look at it like this - Prairie View has had 3 coaches since 2015 and all have won and 2 have moved on and another was 1 game away from winning the West in his first year so the environment there is conducive to winning

1. I would put ER, BM and even McKinney over Hue right now. At least McKinney has proven to be a competent coach even if the record is poo. Him and Hue definitely are on the hot seat next year

2. McNair is what the SWAC needs as far as a steady coach at his alma mater who just knows how to win and always puts a competitive product out there. Simmons has done a great job at FAMU but most know he's probably not gonna be at FAMU long if he keeps up with the 9-10 wins

3. Thanks for rating the 9-12 coaches with no experience where they are
