Bama State head basketball coach

There are so many rumors of who AAMU will hire; however, I know it should be someone who can relate to the players, play fundamental basketball (including knowing how to block out, take charges, slide your feet, triple threat position etc..). In addition, someone who knows how to teach man to man defense. Recruiting, academics, and stakeholder communication is a must. Just my thoughts..

Watson wanted upward of $230k. TXSU basketball funding is tied to money earned during their OC schedule. No other school in the conference funds their program like that.
I hear you. Watson apparently knows what he's worth, or... at least knows what he thinks he's worth. I guess the school thought he wasn't. I might have done 180 from the school and got the foundation or private funds to kick in 50k a year to make that happen, if he was the guy.
I don't know much about Madlock. Looks like a career assistant that was looking for a break. finally got it with sc state. season was uneven. they finally gave up on getting a veteran head coach and went with a promising assistant w/ limited head coach experience. I hope they give him everything he needs to be successful. we want a swac that is solid, top to bottom.

Madlock association with Penny Hardaway makes him attractive.

Valley would like a word with you.

@DAHILL is Jack Doss to old now to coach? I would love for us to hire him. I really think we need to think outside the box like Alcorn did with I can't remember the white guy name and Jackson St did with Dieon. I miss us being a beast in basketball and North Alabama has a lots of talent a coach like him could get us. Even if he is only around for 3-4 years. I mean hell Nic Saben is in his 70's.

IMO yes… it looked like he was struggling to walk off the floor after games last season. I dont think his body could take a college coaching job with being on the road that much.

Madlock son just went in the portal… I expect Madlock to be named head coach at Bama State soon.
You called it! Now do us.

News was basically out on Friday
hopefully he's already talking to some of the hornet guys in the portal. several I'd like to see return. think they have 3 or 4 guys, all guard committed. need a few bigs. would love for reed to come back but if not, find a few 6'9, 6'10 kids that can contribute.

They have a big man that will be returning back. Basically, the only one we had since Mo loved recruiting majority of guards.

At this level i would take my chance with guards… big men at this level simply aren’t going to be “good”… P5s taking a chance on even the prospects since big men are hard to find .
