Bama State head basketball coach


former unlv, new mexico state & grand canyon head coach. nothing from the school. previously it'd been reported the job was going to fred watson from miles.

Interesting hire to say the least. Had success at the Aggies so he has the pedigree and connections to get ASU back to their winning ways.

He has no ties to the state which makes me question his recruiting ability. Plus, he’s 60 years of age. I retired at 59 because I was sick and tired of working from 8 to 5. He does not create any enthusiasm with the local Hornet faithful.
 
People were hardly supporting the program when they were winning. The guy is a proven winner but people want a JUCO coach over him
 
Jason has got to make the call. It sounds like he got overruled on the football hire, so he must have autonomy and be able to hire the coach he feels is going to be the best fit for basketball, otherwise what's the point in being the AD. He needs to pull the trigger if this is the hire so they can hit the recruiting trail and get a team together.

Maybe the JUCO coach fits our needs better than the senior west coast coach who recently interviewed at San Diego State. We’ve wasted 2 years. We must make a move quickly if we want to take advantage of the upcoming signing date.

Eatmon interviews at AAMU this weekend… I like him but not sure how his JUCO resume can compete with others.
 



I heard that Bama State didn’t get Watson because they couldn’t match his Miles salary… keep in mind he is AD at Miles also.

being cheap keeps biting them in the @strick. takes money to make money. I'm about to forget about them and come back in 5 years on somethin,

Jason has extensive HBCU ties and a former Alcorn coach - surely he has a short list of folks with the type of experience he wants but we all know the history of decision making - plus the contract issue over is different

I think Jason is capable, but Bama St has a history or letting certain stakeholders make decisions instead of the people who should. They have hurt a lot of coaches and administrators careers, so I'm sure many is hesitant to coach there.
 
I have 100% confidence in wherever Jason chooses… IF they are letting him choose. I can 100% tell you he didn’t have a decision on the football hire.
 
I am confident Jason can do a great job but we heard whispers that they didn't get hopson b/c of money. I'm sure they didn't talk to hue b/c of... money. they aren't getting watson b/c of ... money. they got mo b/c .... he worked for free.

Well, I wish the best, should have kept Coach Jackson in this case. If it's money issue, you might want to look high school or coach that received a buyout from getting fired. Hope you get a coach sooner than later!
