Oh really, was that a different GOP that's been fanning the flames of white grievance politics for decades (albeit with Democratic validation)? All of the we need to take back our country? These are the descendants of segregationists and people who were bombing Black churches, why are we pretending like this wasn't always building up to violence, especially for people who've been shown time and time again the state won't use its might to viciously stop them like it does Black people blocking an intersection?

By breaking into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday and disrupting the electoral vote count, every single person involved in the attack has committed a federal felony, seditious conspiracy, and faces up to 20 years in a federal prison.

The elements of this crime are simple. “If two or more persons . . . conspire to . . . by force . . . prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.”

That is exactly what happened here. A large mob broke into the U.S. Capitol for the express purpose of delaying the execution of the Electoral Count Act which would result in Donald Trump formally being declared the loser of the November election and the installation of Joe Biden as the next president of the United States.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House has reported the National Guard and federal police are en route to the U.S. Capitol to assist in ending occupation by Trump supporters.

Protesters supporting President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol Wednesday, clashing with police and forcing a delay in the constitutional process to affirm President-elect Joe Biden’s win.

At least one explosive device was found near the Capitol. Law enforcement officials said the device was no longer a threat Wednesday afternoon.

Dozens of people breached security perimeters at the Capitol and lawmakers inside the House chamber were told to put on gas masks as tear gas was fired in the Rotunda.

One person has been shot at the Capitol as dozens of supporters of Trump stormed the building and violently clashed with police.
