Just look at the body count at Alabama post Paul Bear Bryant. Look at UCLA post John Wooden. The history is already there of coaches following very successful coaches. They are gonna find out when Saban retires. I really feel sorry for the guy who succeeds him. That is gonna be a tough act to follow. Just saying.
Bijan Robinson Stats, News, Bio | ESPNTexas isn't Texas anymore because they are losing talent. They aren't getting all the top kids anymore. You have Jimbo at A&M , OU steals a few and then other Texas universities getting better and giving players chances to play. The days of sitting behind someone for 2 or 3 years only happens at a few school.
If it was me , i would bring in top JUCO and Transfer talent. Then recruit a good HS class and redshirt them and let them get bigger , faster and stronger. And then unleash them.
Texas needs a bruising RB and a QB who is in the Vince Young mold. I would also hire him on staff to help bring in recruits. Those kids remember him
Texas hasn't won the Big 12 since 2009. A damn network ain't the problem. And Notre Dame has played for/advanced to the championship round of the FBS postseason three times in the last nine years, which is more than a lot of other blue blood programs. ND loses in those games because they're playing Bama, LSU and Clemson -- the three best programs of the CFP era. Texas is outchea losing to Kansas and Maryland.Their cable channel has led to the downfall of UT sports. I don't think UT has a sports problem, they have a conference problem. They destroyed the Big 12 with their cable deal. With players having opportunities in the SEC, Big 10 and the ACC, the Big 12 is left out in the cold. They have money, but no winners, money is more important than winning. If they were smart, they would drop their channel, create a BIG 12 channel and add the University of Cincinnati and Memphis to the BIG 12.
Notre Dame has a similar problem with NBC, they need to be in the ACC. They have money, but no winners, money is more important than winning. They need to drop their football deal and become a member of the ACC.
I heard that the SEC and Big 10 schools top to bottom receive more money than ND or UT from cable deals I don't know if that is true.

You're looking at this through the eyes of an adult and not a high school kid. This is a microwave culture...short memories and even shorter attention spans. High school seniors were like 3 years old when VY and Texas won that championship. To make matters worse, his NFL career crashed and burned. They dont remember that shit.Someone the kids remember and can relate too. Vince is in his 30s
We agree to disagree, that network destroyed the conference and has stopped its growth.
It led to the break up of the conference. Colorado, Missouri. Nebraska & AM all left because of it an Deloss Dodd stubbornness. Instead of the longhorn network, it should have been the Big 12 network. Arkansas was ready to come back. That network did not destroy the conference. The only thing that network did was shortchange the conference from getting more income and that's it.
VY cannot stay off the drunkards sauce. He's another drug charge and DUI waiting to happen. I don't like their university but it would be folly for them to bring the immature one back to their campus as any type of employee.Someone the kids remember and can relate too. Vince is in his 30s
Have to give credit where it is due. He is the real deal homerun type and tough as nails. Look at some of his highlights where he eludes contact and accelerates.Bijan Robinson Stats, News, Bio | ESPN
He's a freshman...can't get anymore bruising than him!

I would think that VY would be persona non grata around UT now a days for the very reason you listed.
Huge media liability but deep down, they still love him for what he delivered for them (that nat'l champ over USC). When he did what was required of him, crickets. No media attention. But as soon as he did that thing and those other "things," they came for him and it simultaneously made their school look bad. It was bad enough they created a fictitious university for him and were paying him a 6-figure salary to be a "university ambassador." All he had to do was smile, keep his mouth shut, and play his role in front of a camera. Too much to ask, I guess.
Oh ok. I can see your point, because this is the way I feel about some of my relatives. I love'em to death, but.........Huge media liability but deep down, they still love him for what he delivered for them (that nat'l champ over USC). When he did what was required of him, crickets. that's the issue with UT athletics and stars - they are coddled and spoiled to the point to where they struggle outside the bubble. When all else fails they run back to Austin to be treated like stars again cause they can't function anywhere elese
Look at the egos on the Longhorn Network.
