Tom Herman reportedly contacted SEC AD about coaching vacancy

No doubt this was "leaked" after it was revealed he would get one more year
There is no loyalty in college football. 80% of the coaches are looking for the next opportunity because it's better to leave one year too early than one year too late
You damn right there is no loyalty in college football. In my opinion, college football is a business.
Let them suffer! Keep running them in the ground Herman! They openly flirted with Nick Saban in Mack Brown's face and ended up having to settle for Charlie Strong. Then the same "voices" disrespected Strong by openly courting Herman. Texas is a disaster because every rich donor believes they can control everything (and they have a lot of them). They are like the Dallas Cowboys (they're a dumpster fire as well) but with several "Jerrys" meddling in the affairs of the football program.
Well, you are absolutely correct. The days of the coaches that you named are long gone. And someone please correct me if I am wrong, I can't find where Eddie Robinson(Grambling), Jake Gaither(FAMU), W.C.Gorden(Jackson State) was head coach at any other school. Imagine that in today's world. It is a business unless one is wholeheartedly committed and faithfully loyal to bring it to life-status, like the Mr Eddie Robinsons, Jake Gaithers, William Nicks, Ace Mumfords, WC Gordens, et al did.
Let them suffer! Keep running them in the ground Herman!

The pay and perks of the job back then wasn't like today. Self-branding, royalties....checks hit different now. They are still around at the lower levels (D3 and NAIA) but are rare even there.
I think McNair MIGHT be the only HBCU coach who could stay at Alcorn for life because of his connections to the school and Mississippi. Everyone else has one eye on the next job
Ye.When you say UT, are you talking about the school in Austin, Texas in the same city with Huston-Tillotson?
They are gonna find out when Saban retires. I really feel sorry for the guy who succeeds him. That is gonna be a tough act to follow. Just saying. One day people will learn...Saban makes Bama football go..... it aint the assistants.
