This is ONE of the reasons why I respect PVAMU; they are the ONLY remaining Texas HBCU out of the original 6 (or 7 founders) that stayed and stuck with the SWAC. Regardless of their past record, they will always hold respect with me. They are a wonderful example of what it means to put the highest priority on the right thing(s) and allow progress to unfold in it's right season...............and they are reaping the rewards (football athletically) for their patience, progress, and good-thinking.

Nah that’s even more embarrassing. The coach pulled his starters 30 min in and played every man on his roster. He can’t do any more than that nor should he have to.
 



We played Arkansas State in 2009 I believe. They started running nothing but fullback dives in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Three or four of them went for 80 yard touchdowns. Coach said he put in practice squad backs and instructed them to run nothing but dive plays. Still could not stop them. 80-7 or something like that.

Next week this time I will be in therapy.

lol You think applewhite and crew are going to run it up? Hopefully sTu will keep it competitive. I'm not sure how committed the OL is to handling Oliver and company. Strong hint: he L-O-V-E-S to play basketball (for $$ lol) ;) , loves riding horses, and loves doing dangerous shit on 4-wheelers smh. Use it to sTu's advantage.
 
I feel that SWAC football is so bad (except for one random team every year). This outcome could’ve happened to any of the schools in the conference.

That's why I'm wondering where all this bitching is coming from....the coach played EVERY player on his team. Do you all know how many can dress at a home game????

if UAPB couldn't mount a game against 3rd and 4th stringers then they deserved this ass pounding.

I personally believe UAPB just gave up.

It's hard to tell...I mean seriously if a player who is 3rd string has the chance to score a TD they are going for the stats. As a coach I couldn't do the injustice to my players and say don't score.

Now what I would do is start my 2nd string so that my first string won't get hurt and tell them the to at least get 50.

What people in the SWAC don't understand is that when we face teams where EVERY game matter they have to run up the score because it is expected. When it's time for bowl bids (FBS) and brackets (FCS) these games cost the school money and recognition.

I have noticed this as well.

I truly believe that GSU's last two years Fobbs went soft on teams not to blow them out.
 
Hi everyone, A SDSU alum and fan here. I sorry I am late to the dance, but had some trouble figuring out the registration process. None-the-less I along with Coach Stig do apologize for running up the score. Coach Stig is not one for running up the score, but some how he got carried away. I known him for many years and he is a great person as is Coach Cedic Thomas for APBU. They are both very dedicated and want the best for their team. Our records show we beat a Columbus College in Sioux Falls 85-0 in 1922. Our voice of the Jackrabbits Tyler Merriman said that they don't have complete records on this game since they stopped recording yardage for the team and for our then ace running back by the name of Ross Owens at half time. Columbus College no longer exists and is not a Veterans Hospital. Owen went on to have a long teaching and coaching career at Tuskegee University. A few years prior, we had a South Dakota player by the name of Cleveland Abbott who was athletic director and coach at Tuskegee until his death in 1955. SDSU is a predominately white school, with many homesteader great grand children now attending. Most of our origins are from Northern Europe, such countries as Germany, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. When I was a student in 1959-1965, we have very international students and those that were black were from many African Countries. In fact, we did not even have many Native Americans on campus. That has now changed with more students of color. I believe we have in the neighborhood of 30 to 35 black athletes on our football team. In fact a question came up SDSUFANS.COM board if APBU had shown in any interest in Pierre Strong who is from Little Rock Arkansas. He got a lot of playing time last Saturday night.
I notice there is mention of Prairie View. Prairie View then D2, had to journey to Brookings to play in the regional playoffs in basketball. This one game I was able to attend, but what show. Zelmo Beatty was playing then for PV and we had a guy name Don Jacobsen who had to match up with Zelmo. We won that game only because of home court and very noisey crowd. The year was 1960, long ago and I was a very young man. Many old timers still talk about this game.

Alcorn was in a situation like this against Louisiana College a DIII school this year. We played then in 2014 and they jumped into a 10-0 lead but lost 52-10. This year the game was nowhere near as competitive. In the middle of the 2nd quarter when the score was 34-0, all starters were took out. We took a 51-0 Halftime Lead. When the score got 58-0 in the middle of 3rd quarter, Alcorn only played the 3rd stream. Alcorn still ran their offense except for a little more runs instead of passes. On the last drive Alcorn took a knee to end the game. They way I feel you run your offense with your second and 3rd teamers if they game get out of reach. If they can't stop you then oh well. However, I did think that throwing bombs to end the game was kind of classless.

Checking the play-by-play, SDSU threw two passes in the fourth quarter. They went for 37 and 76-yard touchdowns, respectively. What the stats don't show is whether those were actual deep passes or short completions that turned into long gains.

Both were short passes that went the distance due to poor tackling.
