S. Dakota State head coach apologizes after 90-6 win, but he shouldn’t have to

I believe that game is an ESPN event (not a JX State deal).

there's a future kickoff classic schedule out that has jville in that game for the next 5 years....I think it may be their game if I'm not mistaken. I know I saw UNA for 2 years and they have AAMU as the opponent in 2023.The other two were Mercer? and another fcs team.

Jax st would play the celebration bowl winner every other year if they could cause they want all the publicity. They use it as a recruiting tool for certain black athletes imo

Okay

If every player on the SDSU roster actually played then you can’t get mad at the score. Folks really need to be mad at UAPB for allowing this to happen. Having 90 put up on you isn’t exactly helping how people from the outside view the conference either.

What is he apologizing for???? He played every player on the roster.

UAPB’s coaches should be held accountable.

More importantly if UAPB and Valley don’t step up then maybe they should drop down.

I am going to be honest. South Dakota St. is good but they are not that good. I figured that UAPB would lose the game by 49 points but to lose the way they did. That was embarrassing . UAPB has a decent offense but that defense is going to lose every game they have remaining on schedule and that is including Valley. When I saw that there defense gave up over 500 yards of offense to Morehouse I knew they were in for a long year. Cedric Thomas is going to have to go the JUCO route and fix that defense.

I am not sure. I know when they 1st re-joined the SWAC, they came in swinging.

We re-joined the SWAC in 1997 and actually led the SWAC Western Division that year. But the SWAC HQ said it was a "probationary" year for us, so we couldn't claim the lst Place spot. One guess who it went to? LOL!

If a coach is playing his 3rd and 4th string you let them play. You don't tell your players who hardly get to play to just go out their and lay down.

I know, right? I don’t get a bunch of reps in practice to shine ... but I gotta be conservative in a blowout to protect the feelings of our bum ass opponents and their soy boy fans?

Hell no. Lol!

lol man yall leave uapb alone.. they not that bad …. they did beat Alcorn last year and won the swac trophy in 2012.... at least... lol uapb will be fine they don't need to drop now valley... yeah that's another story. smh lol defend your school @96lioness my gawd I'm up here defending uapb *face palms*

Man they let a team put up 90 on them. Man I would be too embarrassed to shake hands after that.

With all due respect, we don't have the same point of view. I've seen it come and go since 1997, but I can respect your opinion.

That team nearly beat SU in 97 in the SWAC's first OT game. Rod Robinson played in the NFL, you had big Oscar Bullard at running back, the NFL DBs, etc. UAPB was physical.

2 years later you had McKissic and Johnson and they ran over folks but the team underachieved in 2001

this here shows the guys who were drafted from that era - https://www.pro-football-reference.com/schools/arkpinebluff/

I'm amazed at the comments regarding this score. Most (nearly all of you) are walking around with blinders on. That was PB that lost this weekend....Yeah, that same PB!!!! Y'all know the 1. The PB that lost to the #1 and #2 teams from the West last year by a TD or less. Was that them 'wabbits'....them 'wabbits' that worked SU in their inaugural season in FCS????

While everyone is downing PB, EVERY school in this conference would have lost to SDSU by 30 or more in Brookings.

If you are talking about making PB move down, make sure you're school whips on PB as well. Don't let it be a close game, or your school needs to move down as well.

Hell, looking at PB's O-Line and D-Line, they look just as slow as 80% of the rest of the SWAC.

We at PV cannot throw salt. Bama St beat us 92-0 fall 1991 and Gram put it to us 84-7. I remember both games vividly, among many others where we were shellacked thoroughly for not doing the right thing.

Yes, I was there at that game and it was very intense and emotional for me. The next 2 years after, the UAPB/SU games went into double OT, and I believe in 2000 we hit a triple OT. We had another OT with Southern in 2008, and the 2012 SCG set a record for the first OT (UAPB and JSU).

I have a book that has a history of our football team, records, etc. Included are Golden Lions who were drafted into the NFL.

All I'm going to say is this is not the SWAC of old, pre-90's and as football knowledgeable as poster's are on this board-not one of you can argue that fact. Yes it is embarrassing and humiliating to get beat like we did this past Saturday, another fact!!!!

LtB16, we didn’t play Alcorn last season; we only had one conference win last year.

And I do appreciate your post; I’ll always defend my school (academics, athletics, etc) when the situation calls for it. My posts on this particular topic aren’t excuses, nor are they defending UAPB. I stand by what I said in this thread and just hope my team doesn’t let the SDSU game or the post-game comments/critique define them or their athleticism. I know they’re better than how they played, but THEY have to realize this and be as competitive as possible. Compete to the absolute best of your physical and mental abilities and the rest will come together for our good......that is my hope for my Golden Lions.

I understand Bewild... but look at how PV has progressed. And were other conference foes suggesting kick y'all out the conference? Do you think the SEC is about to tell ARK to go back to the SWC???? (well, maybe some are...but y'all know what I mean)

And, Unless I'm mistaken, PV is carrying the torch with 2 close calls and 1 victory. Even though PV is 1-3, that's the best we have right now. But, no1 is talking about kicking PV out the conference.

Man you don't know how much I appreciate this post because it is amazing how people are using the "embarrassing for the SWAC" excuse to let their true feelings be known about PB and Valley. As if most of our schools would even schedule SDSU, KSU, JSU, etc. outside of PV (even though SHSU is technically a money game, PV didn't go in looking at it as a money game). Most are quick to say that their school shouldn't play NDSU, JMU, etc. unless it is a home and home but we know that the NDSU won't do plus we do overvalue we were really are sometimes in the FCS world. NCAT can command a home and home with NDSU. PV is on their way there but right now, everyone needs to step into the real world because while yall on here trying to ship Valley and PB off to D2, these schools see yall the same way.

SDSU would hang at least 50 on every school in this conference outside of PV because they have the offense that could keep up with them and keep them off the field.

Plus as I said earlier, go to a soccer or softball game on your school's campus if you got time. Then come back at me about who really needs to go D2. Soccer teams losing to NAIA and club teams playing in high school jerseys but on here trying to tell other schools what they should be doing

Man I would have put 113 on UAPB, SU, anybody.

You accept this check, yo ass belongs to me. Tough break.

When you get tired of getting yo ass beat like this, you washed, out-dated ass negros that crawl behind a buck will think about bumming and clucking for a check again.

Your school got attention all for the wrong reasons.

There was a LOT of talk about kicking one of the original charter SWAC members out of the conference in the early 1990s if PVAMU didn't get its shit together. (show progression towards competitivity, scholarship availability, et al)
