Grambling football searching to replace Bacone College after school announces closure

I feel you.

I have long believed that GSU should ALWAYS schedule a Top 10 FCS Program YEARLY!!!!!

Not just Grambling... I'd say the top 5 SWAC teams should at least play ONE other FCS top 25 program. Especially since we tucked tail and ran from the playoffs

I once was a supporter of the playoffs but once I start really looking at the fiscals; the playoffs for FCS programs is fleecing. So with that said I don't think we tucked tail and ran but took our best option. Now with the success of the Celebration Bowl I think more FCS programs are going to soon catch on.

Now concerning the top 5 SWAC schools I thoroughly agree.

Sad to hear about Bacone College potentially closing.

Is Texas College available? Langston? uca? sfa?

Thats my point... a D2 school scheduling one of their first FCS games against a big dog FCS program.

When is the last time a SWAC AD got on the phone with the AD of the #1 team team in the country and said "let's get it!" .. ??
Both Valley and PV played NDSU in the last decade. With NDSU you have to be willing to travel there as opposed to them even considering coming to you

North Alabama hopes to become a top tier fcs team quickly with all the help of white alumni donors

imo they will be calling alot of SWAC teams including Grambling to play them so they can upstage the whole SWAC conference

North Alabama's joining the Big South in 2019. I guess they want to adjust to the D-I life before hitting conference football and running up against Charleston Southern annually.

I hope they call Bama State. I would like to see us play all FCS schools in the state and drop this FBS butt whipping for a payday.

I think Valley has some type of odd streak going on of playing a team that has appeared in the FCS title game 4-5 years in a row I believe so we do it on the regular even if most feel we shouldn't be doing so.

If "sorry" Valley can do it then other SWAC schools can do it as well. I've said for a few years on here that schools like NDSU or JSU (Alabama) aren't gonna do home and home with almost no SWAC schools because they don't feel that we are on their level. Maybe a school like JSU will listen to Grambling with their sustained run lately but other than that, we need to stop being pimps in our mind and beat them at their place if "the top 5" really think they are about that life (because don't try to put a "qualifier" on it with the "SWAC Elite" need to do it (while ignoring/shading Valley) when we have been doing it really since 2008 when NDSU came to Valley). PV played SHSU tough last year

the ? is are you scared lmao they will be calling to play everybody in the SWAC including SU...they already have AAMU & JSU this fall.

Southern University and A&M would just have to crush them like we do everything from Alabama! LOL

Doesn’t valley play them?

ndsu traveled to Valley, if memory serves correct. I’m not sure if they were still d2 at that time or transitioning.

It was a money issue. Money overrides everything, especially for financially strapped schools and conferences.

NDSU did a home/home with Valley around the 2005/2006 year. It believe they were still in their FCS transition.
