College Football Playoff - The SEC is our overlords

Here's the thing. We really don't know -- and it's fine to admit -- who is better than who considering all these teams haven't, or won't, play each other. We can project, but we really don't know without a result. Auburn was a 10-point favorite and got handled. We now know UCF is better than Auburn.

Regardless of how it occurred or what it means, there is an undefeated team out there who didn't get an opportunity to play for a national championship because there is an inherit bias against them based on where they are in the hierarchy of college football. It's a case of classism in that regard.

And quite frankly it's a bad look for the sport to have an unbeaten team not at least given the opportunity to compete for a championship. Folks can make all these arguments about the schedule or the conference they play in to attempt justify why they shouldn't be in the CFP. But they won all the game on the schedule, though. You can't ignore that.

If winning all the games don't get you a shot, then the system will be questioned.
It's not a bad look when one looks at UCF's entire schedule. Anyone with an ounce of objectivity knows in his heart that if UCF had to visit places like Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Miss. State or Georgia, all in one season would be nowhere near undefeated.
It's not even worth debating this much. For one to even hint that they would be undefeated is laughable at best.

This question, and many similar to it, are asked in such way to attempt to create confirmation bias that UCF shouldn't be in a playoff, because most of the responses would generally lean toward the public saying they would lose.

I mean, we could use honesty in saying Texas Southern, Southern or a MEAC team would likely lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament. But nobody argues that the SWAC or MEAC should be completely shutout of the tournament because of how they are perceived as basketball conference.

No, not at all. Like I said before in my previous post. I wouldn't have a problem with them if they had gotten in. Which means, I have no reason to attempt to create confirmation bias. Not sure how you got that out of my question. My question was a legit question asking you "how would they fare"? Should I assume that your lack of answering is an attempt to dodge the question because you think they wouldn't win against any of those teams? Not at all. It's not rocket science........it's simply asking your opinion.

And?

If Alabama didn't play Mercer, Fresno State and Colorado State (in addition to Florida Sate) in nonconference play, maybe -- just maybe -- they would have had more than one loss.

They know that.......they just hate to admit it. SEC hate at it's best. All these teams that jump up and beat a "

Yeah and if OU didn't play UTEP, Tulane maybe they'd have more than one loss as well.

You can't include Florida State in that man. That was a top 10 power 5 school. Not Bama's fault they lost their QB early in that game.

Now this is getting nonsensical by the post. Alabama just massacred the number one team in the nation....AND they have a history of winning titles. Case closed.
UCF has a win over a three loss Auburn team and a conference championship win over the likes of Memphis for it's conference title.
Question for you Kendrick. Could UCF have gone to places like Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Miss. State, and come back without a loss? Yes or no.

Yep and you read all of it. LOL At least Kendrick can have a sensible conversation about it. LOL Guess what.........SEC is playing for the championship, not UCF and ain't a daaaamn thing you can do about it but keep on crying about UCF beating Auburn. LOL Go Noles! LOL

Nah I don’t care about doing anything about it...just UCF deserved a shot at an actual title and was more than capable of beating any other team that was in there...period

It’s just annoying when everybody starts chanting SEC when it’s been the ACC and Big Ten that’s won 3 of the 4 previous titles

Hey, I wish UCF did get a shot but we all know, their schedule wasn't anything like the top 4 teams. They may have been somewhat capable but you know as well as everybody on here, you're not getting in with a schedule where the best team in your conference was Memphis. That's the way it goes........that's the way it's always gone.

I see you stopped at 3-4 because it fits your argument. Nice move. But since you wanna do that, here's a number for you............SEC has won the last 7 out of 10 or we can go the last 9 out of 15. Wanna try 10 of the last 20 soon to be last 11 of 21. I think you can chant or brag all you want when you've accomplished that. Glad to see other conferences like the Big 10 and Big 12 have more parity now. Makes college football that much more fun to watch.

As of now...it’s Alabama and everybody else. Congrats to Georgia for FINALLY making it this year after a dog fight with Oklahoma(and getting blown out the water by the team UCF beat).

LOL yeah congrats UCF for beating Auburn that lost to LSU that lost to Troy and then got blown out of the water by Georgia in the SEC title game. :D Have fun hanging your participation banner and your participation parade. :-)

ok I'm done with this dead horse. time to go home.

But what is the overall objective? If the objective is to name THE number one team why the inclusion of UCF? Even if there were a 6 team playoff, UCF would not have been in the 6.

They have a history of winning SEC titles and a history of being given National Championships.

Uhhh TP the SEC won the very first college football playoff championship.

I'm cool with 8 teams. Give teams like UCF to get in. Although OU, Clemson, Bama or Georgia........even Ohio State would beat the brakes off UCF in a playoff.

No the Big Ten won the first one.

Let me ask you this. Could any other school in the nation beat a horrible team from the Sun Belt a week before losing on the road, which happened to be its last game of the regular season, causing them to miss the conference championship game but ultimately make the postseason in a system touting “every game matters?”

Valid point. But........at least Bama went out and took care of business against #1. Unlike last year when Ohio State didn't win their conference.....cried to get in and then got their a$$es embarrassed 31-0. If you gon cry, politic or beg to get in( a la Saban), at least handle your business.
No the Big Ten won the first one.
yep that’s right. I thought they started in 2015. The Ewok won the first one with OSU.

An SEC team has been in the finals the last 10 years and with different teams.
The Big Ten is only Ohio State and the ACC right now is only Clemson. Come on man.

What do all these questions have to do with UCF deserving a shot to play for the national title?
A quality schedule doesn't mean you get an easy shot with only having to play one ranked team from a power five conference. Anybody can get hyped for ONE game.

And in my John McEnroe voice....ANSWER THE QUESTION!!! Hahahaha!!

They have a history of winning SEC titles and a history of being given National Championships.
Alabama has more national titles than any school in the nation. They blew out the best team from the ACC, so how is that being "given" a title?
