"We want to thank Coach Simmons and his family for their contributions to Prairie View A&M University," said Vice President/Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson. "He led Panther football through an exciting period with the opening of our new football stadium and helped Prairie View A&M to again become a contender in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. We wish him success in his future endeavors."
Assistant head coach Bubba McDowell has been named Interim Head Coach. He and quarterbacks coach K.J. Black will lead the program during this transition.

I agree to disagree. Alcorn was in terrible shape. You could argue Gram had talent but they were performing as one of the worst teams in the nation. Valley and Scholarship-less PV are different stories. We are talking about at a normally funded SWAC program.

Why are you using that strawman argument? Obviously schools 25+ scholarships short of the FCS limit are special cases and are impossible to even consider for a 2nd year turnaround. We're not talking about the worst-off programs.
You're just arguing just to argue. Just admit that good coaches can turn losers into winners in their 2nd year, per the evidence.
But that's not what was said this was.
How has that worked at any other Swac school that has change coaches in the last 6 years?

Stop being a peckerhead, dude. We hired a damn bum. That doesn't negate the fact that it doesn't take 4+ years for a good coach to turn around a program unless it is in a state of financial despair.
Anthony Jones took a 5-6 team and went 8-4 in his first year.
Comegy did the same thing at JSU years ago. Year 2 turn around.
You need more examples?
What about Jenkins, Jackson, Hughes, Haywood, Coleman, Brown, Spady need we say more

Jenkins is a head scratcher. It appears ASU has unseen issues. Barlow wins more after leaving and Jenkins won more before arriving.
