So the SWAC is going to instant replay next year?

Just heard on the radio during our game the SWAC is going to instant replay next year with each school having to do one game this year.

D.Sharp said that the conference will be getting the right equipment for each school to do it. Remember this was said some years ago also. I don't see each school having the correct infrastructure to pull it off.
 



I think Valley already has replay equipment on campus. Pretty sure that in order to do a ESPNU game you need it

ESPN bring their own equipment.

From what I saw in Valley's pressbox last season, they still having trouble getting internet service in there as the radio guy was still using a regular phone line.

At SWAC Media Day, Harold mitchell (Head of SWAC officials) told us that he's going to every school in September and October to check on their replay systems. According to him. 6 out of the 10 SWAC schools already have the correct equipment to do a Replay correctly already. By next year, every school must have it in place.

The only thing with that is will all the schools have the same configuration of said replay system. The same camera angles in all the stadiums where some could not and some could have more. In my opinion every school would have to have the same angles so that it would be fair to use a replay the same in every stadium. I would also want them to even have the replay official using the same type equipment in their boot at every school and not using a different type in all the stadiums where they are not comfortable using the equipment to make the correct calls and not taking 10 minutes to see something.
 
Are we using it or not? I have seen both during this season. And I have seen some calls that DEFINITELY should have/would have been looked at and likely overturned if it was being used. Didn't I see somewhere that it was being mandated?
 
Only during nationally televised games,however the schools will tell you that they don't have the infrastructure to do it every game however to me that's a lie go to Mumford, memorial in Jackson,Alcorn ect you can't tell me that the SWAC doesn't have the ability to do this every game.

It has been used at different games that are not televised. You can't do it at Valley, Pine Bluff & AAMU for sure.

They did it at SU the first game but not the last game. I think SU is about to upgrade again. Worm complained about replay not being in use Homecoming. I know Alcorn has it for every game.
 
I think that's my issue at this point. It's kind of random. It's a no brainer on TV games to use it. But it should also be in use any time the capability is there.
 
Didn't the ncaa mandate that all schools have the ability to use it by next year and gave them the resources to help this to happen?

Yes you are correct. I talked to an replay official on the sideline during the game and he said all schools got to have it next year. I asked about Valley and he said they got to spend the money. Then he mentioned the SWAC got a raise as well as the SEC.

DIdn't the Alcorn/SU game have replay this season?

I know. And sad to say but some schools don't have it yet.

I know at one point they wanted the replay officials to be in a separate space from everyone else in the press box.
