SWAC announces the end of football championship game

if bama state & bama a&m move to the meac and either makes it to the heritage bowl that would produce a nice crowd. grambling vs. bama state in the heritage bowl would be fun.

I was trying to check but the CFB Data Warehouse site has been shut down. I'll see if I can find another site that has that data on it.

You know this is all gramblings fault.....

The last three SWAC title games have been played at NRG Stadium, home of the NFL's Houston Texans. After having 38,969 fans in 2014 and 40,352 in 2015, the attendance dropped to 24,917 in last season's title game.

Hell man that's so long ago I have to research but off the top of my head I'd say it was a mixture of both.

I mean this isn't some new phenomenon it's not like we didn't have a seven-game mandate before where some games counted as conference games and some didn't.

It's not new to our conference or anybody else conference even though for some odd reason some folks love to pretend that it is

It's too bad for the SCG. I'd rather go to the SCG game than a game against a MEAC school in Atlanta. We had better attendance at those games than games against MEAC schools minus the FAMU/Southern matchup.
In fact, the SCG was more successful, so I'm trying to figure out the REAL reason Duer is doing away with it. Perhaps ESPN had something to do with his decision.
 
What a time to be alive.

Houston (if done right) could have been done right. One thing you could do, move the ship back a week.

Move the Bowl game at a school's site, (The team with the best record host)

Why are we renting out stadiums when most schools can't fill their own stadium. I mean until we start having standing room only at these games, that's when we can start to talk about moving it to these big stadiums. IMO

Take the money that you are renting these stadiums to host these games, and provide it to the traveling team that's going to play. Add it to their expense.

Man Look, playing everybody in the conference like HS is a no no. This is not pee wee football and we got to get off that.

You have to reward these kids a chance to "play" for the SCG, just announcing the shit over the radio or looking in the paper is Meh. This isn't 1992.

Kids want that last game to play in to put it all on the line.

You use that SCG as a recruiting tool, now what are you going to use as an end of the game finale?

This is sad I tell, they lazy up there and don't give a dayum about the product...

1. What's wrong with asking and presenting receipts to why it should be moved?

2. So if ESPN said play a Bowl game on Wednesday in the North Pole we should do it/play huh and not ask for it to be moved to fit "our" schedule?

3. I'd rather ask, then not breh.

4. If they don't move the game, cool, if they don't, come back to them and present.

Breh, that's why I stated you present facts to the folks at ESPN on why you as a conference want the bowl moved.

I didn't read anywhere that they were changing a schedule format

I stated that new/creative ideas need to be brought up and I suggested a few bits/crumbs of what I thought may could happen.

The Celebration bowl is a joke now if you're asking me.

That crap will be down in 2 years because of how it's setup.

Now days you have to have more teams/conferences to be competing for a chance to play there (my Power 5 Conference post from other thread)

You have to make that crap mean something. It's a joke right now because it's just put out there.

Why you think the Rose/Fiesta/Sugar/Orange Bowls are how they are? because of money huh? No

They have more conference/teams competing for a chance to play there. You only have 2 conference competing right now to play in the CB game Keep it at the school's site until you starting bringing in more conferences to compete for a chance to play there (my Power 5 Conference)

Once more conferences/teams start competing then you open it up to a bigger venue and then you start to add another bowl for the less tier teams.

We gotta scrap what we are doing now and just start from scratch with this sh1t, we just putting band-aids on our brand...2-3 years we will back with the discussion on the Celebration Bowl being dropped.

So basically I did get it right. You're trying to compare a school with a $60 million dollar budget to one that has an $8 million dollar budget so now you decided to just ramble about crazy shit.

You got that right. So tell us what's so logical about moving a game out of a larger market where you're playing inside and not have to be concerned about the weather playing outside in the cold?
