Listen up maggots! And that's an order!
And about the basketball tournament ... 3,500 people look better in a 5,000-seat facility than 3,500 people look in an NBA arena

Remember how we were all so excited to dip from Birmingham to Houston, newer and better facilities etc. Remember how the free usage of Legion Field and all of the ancillary things that came with that free usage. Remember that $500,000 a year the City of Birmingham was providing the SWAC each year until they dipped but that $500,000 has not been replaced by the city of Houston or any other sponsors? Welp.....
the only games I would except in an 8-game schedule are Bayou Classic, Magic City, Labor Day, Jackson-Alcorn and Valley-UAPB ... everyone else can roll off annually...
lol they did the right thing moving it out of Alabama period!Do you have confirmation that they were giving the SWAC $500k cash annually? NEVER heard that.
Ok, I see what you're saying. Instead of a true round robin with a team rolling off you can just go with the east-west schools rolling off but the standings stay in just a single format.

Pretty much. All games except for those designated rivalries would be subject to roll off for one year.
Like for Grambling Grambling would naturally keep Bayou Classic.
One year, Grambling would drop Alcorn. Another year, Grambling would drop Texas Southern. Another year, Grambling would drop Jackson State
Update your resume', duer sharp. You won't be missed by a few of us here, since you're alleged to provide consulting services to the SWAC COPs.
So PV's president has announced that he is stepping down, huh?
Hmmmm.....
LOL....the minute Duer Sharp is fired one of the SWAC school will hire him as AD.
I guess this will also end the 7 game format. Too many tie breaker scenerios that can occur by only playing 7 games.
I don't like that. It's a nice venue since the renovation, no doubt. But it has a capacity of 5,000. Granted, the tourney games, especially in the early rounds, don't draw well. But sheesh.....only 5K?
@Fiyah you know it's too much like right to scrap divisional play and adopt an 8-game conference schedule.
Man you know that's too much like right. LOL...these cats going back to a 9 game mandate. If cost were a problem all they had to do was get the school with the best overall record to have the game at their university coupled with a few events. It could potentially be a double homecoming for some schools.
It was free in Alabama. Plus Bham gave us 500K. So how does that not make money sense?IF it doesn't Make dollars it doesn't make sense.
That was the same philosophy when it was in Alabama

Do a search in the Alabama times newspaper for the article. Yes it's true but nikkers was so hell bent on perception.........Do you have confirmation that they were giving the SWAC $500k cash annually? NEVER heard that.

Most people just hated Alabama and the weather always sucked. Houston was GREAT.... loved it every time I went. I went to 3 out of the 4....and already got my room booked for this year. I was never excited to go to Bham BUT I would rather go to Bham than not have one. Maybe the SWAC can beg Bham to take us back or since JSU runs Memorial, that is also an option. I'm sure we will cut the SWAC a deal and we are centrally located. Everyone can drive to Jackson.
