After 4 1/2 decades without a championship it's time for Valley to seriously consider DII

So since su can't get their athletic department right shouldn't they go D-II also? I mean yall have no institutional control. LOL

You'll never get that answer.

"Hey let's make a post about Valley football never winning a SWAC title as the reason to go to D2" but let's look over the fact that one school has had an AD in place for 3 years (that's aided in getting money from the NCAA to set up programs that ensure once we got the 2-3 sports from under APR sanctions that they would stay there) while the other hasn't had an APR score in years and knocking on the door of the Death Penalty with LOIC. But let's start a smack thread about football

I have some insight on the recruitment aspect...it's all bad. There are a couple SWAC programs that do a decent to good job. Most, well they have alot of hurdles to overcome that are linked to bad admin. and bad athletic dept. I have a kid it took 2 weeks to register him, get his classes approved for transfer, get him an offer and through Admissions. Most SWAC schools take wayyyyy....longer than that and sometimes lose guys that way.

I have insight as an athlete between 2003-2006 at TSU. Easy process with me - my counselors connected with the counselors from my Junior College. Everything was ready for me...No issues. Same for everyone that joined the same year with me.

What's crazy is, I don't get how you can make a discussion for people to talk about then when people disagree, call you out or bring up other valid points you get mad lol. That's so childish and crazy. Somebody is real dizzy in the head lol. Carry on tho.

Honestly, if all SWAC fans wanted to be honest with themselves, it would benefit the institution's more financially to go to D2 or NAIA in many ways. But Pride alone will prevent that. Matter a fact half of you just cringed reading it...lol.
Break it down for us.

Well, in response to the title of this thread, athletics conferences don't place emphasis on its member schools to win conference championships. It's all about adding value to the conference overall.
You're still trying to make this just about winning a title in football. So what if they've never won a football title we aren't the sec and all of those schools you just mention are competitive and an asset to their conference both financially and educationally at the highest level. Not to mention they've won national titles or have in other sports that brings huge attention and money to the conference.

It's apples and oranges

.........

No, it's not apples and oranges.

It's ALL relative.

If MVSU leaves the SWAC/goes down to D2 the ENTIRE conference suffers for it. Period.

Before making comments like this you have to ask yourself 1. is what I'm about too say going to actually make sense ? 2. can I point to any particular INSTANCE and quote that supports what I'm about to say? 3. Will I end up looking like the stupidest creature on the planet after saying it?

I disagree 100 % and you have no facts to support your position. As a matter of fact the changing of the conference through the years says otherwise.

What value does Valley bring to the conference compared to these schools the swac would be noticeably missing ?

I dare say the sec can't replace those schools with anybody from the Sunbelt or C-USA conference .

APPLES and ORANGES

FACT: If MVSU leaves the SWAC, the SCG as we know (and appreciate) it goes down the drain. What good is a conference championship game with only 9 schools?
FACT: If the SWAC attempts the replace MVSU with another school, it will be YEARS before that replacement school is eligible to compete for conference championships.

Those are the facts. My position is hereby supported.

Break it down for us.
My brother, I have done this in message boards, BBQ, over lunch, and after all is said and done, the rebuttal is merely..."it just won't happen, we are fine". But I will just leave one big one, The mission of HBCU'S don't allow for its programs to adequately support their athletics departments. There are many more reasons I have as to why D2 would be a better strategic fit.

So all you would need to do is copy and paste your breakdown right?

Lmfao!!!! whatever floats your short little boat bluepoodle.

How are they opinions? If Valley leaves, the conference is down to 9 teams. The SCG at that point is of no use to us. That is not an opinion.

Also, a team can't just leave one conference to join another, or even move from one division to join another without a wait time. That is a fact.

I think sTu needs to volunteer to D-2.....They would be a powerhouse in basketball and 4th or 5th in football among HBCU D-2

Well obviously it didn't stop other former SWAC schools so it can be done so that's not really a relevant point.
Why it has to be the end of the SCG is beyond my understanding so maybe you can elaborate.

To answer your question blue. Only the people of Mississippi Valley State would have the right to discuss what is best for their school. You have no access to their financial book, so you have no clue if they are doing great or not ,hell they may be in better financial shape then Southern. If teams A wins 15 championship and teams B only wins 2 then you can not assume that team A is in better financial shape. That is your opinion not fact The fact is they are a HBCU, We are a HBCU conference, We need them and vice versa. They just built a brand new basketball arena , made improvements to their football stadium (visitor side) have the best wide receiver to ever play the game of football come from MVSU.

I don't have any idea as to what question you think I asked but this is funny as hell. Any and everything and everyone is discuss on this board now all of some magical sudden Valley is some sacred cow?

GTHOH ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Seriously, I am confused. It didn't stop other SWAC schools from doing what? What is there to elaborate about the SCG? How do you have a championship game with uneven divisions?

From going D2 or NAIA. 1.What rule is there that prohibits having a championship game with uneven numbers? 2. If there is such a rule what makes you believe the conference isn't capable of handling the situation and adding another school? They've proven everyone wrong so far.

I dont think any SWAC school has enough room to say what another needs to do in regards to staying or leaving the conference.

Last I checked, ALL of us are leaving books on the table in multiple areas....

You said :After 4 1/2 decades without a championship it's time for Valley to seriously consider DII??????? Is that a question hmmm I think it is. My answer is No.

1.What rule is there that prohibits having a championship game with uneven numbers?

At some point, the rule of common sense has to apply. What sense does it make to have a West Division with five teams and an East Division with only four teams? What other conference in the NCAA has a conference championship game with odd number teams?

2. If there is such a rule what makes you believe the conference isn't capable of handling the situation and adding another school?

I didn't say the conference wasn't capable of handling the situation. I said any new school that joins the conference (that comes from DII) would not be able to compete right away for a conference championship.

That's awesome but here's the rub. NOBODY ASKED what your thoughts were about others expressing THEIR viewpoints OR opinions.
