Tillery

Honestly his worth won't be determined until in later years after we get to look at some others. Especially so if he gets his shot at the league like the guy from UAPB I think it was, who we then we're able to measure him up to the rest of the legends.

For example I think he's better than Gant, Warren and Wright but not Baxter, Peyton or Tillman He's going to have to make the league to earn space with those two.

Hell Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Steve Wofford was better and played against better competition.

I've seen Tillery play and he is Very Good but he is not the best Rb to come through the league. Is He on the Payton Watch list or one of the finalists?

Not even the same type of back he's a more nfl pro type then Steve was.

I know we like to compare across eras and stuff, but we are forgetting that Tillery's record just might stay up there for a while because of the devaluation of the running back position.

Also, we cannot use a person's NFL credentials as evaluators of college success. We have to look strictly at college circumstances.

1. Walter Payton was at Jackson just at the onset of desegregation in major college football. Those squads were awesome. Maybe @JayRob or someone can help me out on this part, but Payton did not play varsity his freshman year, right?

2. No one really runs Wing-T like Gant and Grambling did anymore. The game evolved toward what it is now.

3. Destry is the best comparison to Tillery, looking at the type of offense and offensive compliments. I think Destry still had about 150-200 more carries than Tillery does. I could be mistaken though.

4. Crowell underachieved at Alabama State.

5. Why no one mentioned Valley's Corey Holmes? He almost had 3K in two years ... at Valley! Or Mallett from UAPB?

I will say this about Tillery, he is the most complete back (running, catching, pass pro) back I have seen in the SWAC in a while.

He's the best of this recent era better thank frank warren and all but overall its hard to say because back then it was run first they knew the run was coming and now you couldn't just stack the box against SU cause Willie Quin would eat you alive

Frank and the other dude was a good 1-2 punch for y'all.

Please be 100

Is Tillery the best back to come through the SWAC?

Thoughts?

You need to consider the question. How can you tell if Tillery, at this point, is better than a RB who had the rushing record in the NFL for a period of time and is a NFL Hall of Famer?

So, comparing apples to apples, if Tillery is the best, he should be able to make it in the NFL and rush for more yards than Payton (since Payton is considered the best). But based on recent years, SWAC rushing leaders haven't been able to make it for very long in the NFL. So, the odds are heavily against him being the best.

I don't know about Baxter or others, but one characteristic that Lewis and Payton had is that they could deliver a blow to whoever was trying to tackle them and then make more yards. I haven't seen Tillery enough to know if he has that quality.

So, I don't think this is a fair question for Tillery at this point in his career.

Why y'all using pro credentials to evaluate what someone has done in college?

Nobody's using pro credentials chief you're misinterpreting what's being said . What we're saying is that because there isn't any easy way to judge him right now mainly because of a lack of comparison and the era's are so far apart. We will be able to appreciate him more once he's gone and years have passed and especially if he gets his chance in the league and shine than you can reflect and appreciate what he accomplish in college or use it as confirmation of what you already suspected or thought.

@Bighead Tillery dope. I don't think he is better than Walter and a few others but I honestly don't think I can give an unbiased opinion because of the level of competition.

Its not fair to him to take in account his competition because he had no control over. I will say he is the best I have seen since 2000.

I feel u but Austin Howard is dangerous

Austin Howard is real good, but too me, the OL is the most dangerous part of the SU offense, that line is real good.

Our offense has struggled all year, but getting pressure on the QB has kept us in the game, they only got to Howard the same amount of times we got to the Texas A&M QB, that is a good line

That is why Odums chose Chennis Berry over Chad Germany.

All the great give credit to their linemen

With the holes I'm looking at, it seems like Austin Howard could have ran for a few first downs.

Emmitt Smith is the NFL's all time leading rusher but is he the NFL's best running back?

I guess this is a rhetorical question.

The internet says Errict Rhett is the all time rushing leader at Florida. So, is he Errict Rhett better than Emmitt?

Any one remember Perry Harrington and Jeffrey Moore...another pair of 1000 yrd rushers?
