Houston Fan Attendance

Many of UH games are also televised. The average fan will elect to watch it at home rather than spend money to attend. Not using this as an excuse because TAMU and UT games are televised as well and their stadiums are packed and most of their fans have to travel to home games. I used to catch all of SU's home games. Now i am down to Homecoming and maybe one additional..lol If i can watch it/ stream it online, that's a wrap. I'm not driving 4 hours unless someone else is doing the driving.

And heck when SU came to play TSU last season even though the game was moved up from 2pm to noon I still left my son's game in Richmond at about 12:15 and made it to BBVA in the 2nd quarter.

She did something down there at College Station on some cheer squad. Obviously she was not a Yell leader or whatever they call there dude squad. The point was they rolled to the games after Youth football. We make excuses on why not to go to the games. That was my point. LOL. Yall know exactly what the point was.
 
Y'all gotta understand that these people who think they know, mentioning their suberbs and saying people don't have that much to do have maybe 1 or 2 hole in the walls and a stadium that they feel is actually top-notch to keep them entertained! TSU is a commuter college in one of the largest cities...no college in the swac can even compare to situations TSU face as far as competition
 
Prairie View to some extent is in the same boat..in reverse....TSU draws better baseball, softball, Monday basketball non-student crowds as people will stop to look out of curiosity

Just wait till your kids get old enough to start participating in these sports.

But why a large majority of SU Houston Jags are at SU games both home and Away. I see them every week lol.

Look at Sam Houston as well. As the number 1 school in FCS play they only filled 61% of their stadium against us. They had 8611 in their staduim that seats 14,000.

All of our home games are televised
 
Uh is on ESPN or ESPN2 which is available on all platforms and cable

Root doesn't stream and is only Available on high end sports packages or in some cases not on some cable systems

Lets be real, a LARGE percentage of people who go to commuter schools like UH and TSU only do so out of convenience so you're never going to get that kind of loyalty. Then when you look at the make up of the total enrollment, a large amount amount aren't even undergrads. I believe PV's undergrad enrollment might be higher. Say what you want, but your allegiance almost always goes to your undergrad alma mater first. People who only went to Thurgood or the pharmacy school don't give a damn about a tsu football game, LOL. Add in the fact that Houston is just a shitty sports town then you get what you get.
 



there are enough undergrad alums over the years to put forth a decent crowd....if they can show up to PV and homecoming (at least on campus) then what's stopping them for coming out 3 more times?

Storm96, Texas Southern's total enrollment for last academic year was just over 9,200 with 6,696 of them being undergrad.

Do you think more fans would show up to your games if the games were not televised? I used to attend TSU games as well but when they started televising your games on Bounce, YouTube and I think Root Sports, I stopped going and elected to watch on the tube.

And PV's undergrad enrollment is over 6900. I don't expect people in grad school at the Northwest campus or the College of Nursing in Houston to have the same level of interest as the students on the main campus.The point I was making is that right off top over 2000 of your students will likely not be fully invested in your program. And out of your undergrad population, how many actually are on campus and immersed in TSU culture as opposed to those who merely drive in before or after work? A lot of your undergrads (like UH) commute out of convenience so there will never be the same interest as a residential college campus. I wasn't smacking; I was attempting to theorize or come up with reasons as to why TSU and UH have failed to spark interest in its own students/alumni beyond the "TSU is the largest school in the SWAC but don't care enough to go to their games" or "UH has 36000 students but cant draw at home" line of thinking. If TSU people are comfortable with that then its no sweat off my back. Its the same dynamic at play at UH as well. Both schools are in the same boat when it comes to attendance.

I think both schools would do much better if they could attract the local fans, those who have no ties to either schools. High School football in Texas attracts majority of the locals IMO.
