Houston Fan Attendance

University of Houston was ranked as high as 5 or 6 and loss two of the last three games. You see their attendance today? Granted, they were blown out most of the game before coming back but their attendance was bad at the start. They have over 40k students and countless alumni in Houston.

They booed former Heisman hopeful Greg Ward.

Typical Houston fan. Win, and they will come. Lose, and they will not show up.

Spoke to a co-worker who is a season ticket holder who attended the game and he mentioned the stadium was half full. He said he was not surprised given because UH fans jump on and off the bandwagon.
 
my thing is what are they doing on Saturdays if their so "busy" to come to games?

early morning, afternoon kickoffs in areas with young families is a challenge..BUT, games are only 4 or 5 Saturdays out of the year and people mysteriously will rearrange things for homecoming and rival games and not as busy all of a sudden.

Youth football is taking off in Houston and surrounding areas. More and more teams are popping up. That's going to take up all of your morning and half of your afternoon if you have to volunteer. We've held our son out this fall as football, basketball, and baseball this past Spring took up damn near 5 days a week. Football and basketball games on Saturday morning.

Most people plan months in advance for homecoming or rivalry games (especially if they come from out of town).

I agree. They aint doing nothing. Every alum don't have kids or kids that are busy. Every alum don't have no where to go on the weekends in Houston. They just choose to stay their ass at home. It's apathetic. If Southern played every home game in Houston for a year. We would outdraw TxSU. LOL.
 
I am with the Texas Southern people on this. I live in Houston. You have a lot of people that just don't want to deal with the hassle when there are so many other things you can be doing or could be involved in here in Houston. you have to be committed and make it a priority to go to games here. Its definitely not easy.

They ain't doing nothing in droves...most of us live in the suburbs and sitting around and not moving until the evening at best...Facebook don't lie..been like that since I've been going to SWAC games since 1980

WE JUST DONT CARE.. .folks ain't that busyy

Youth football is bigger than local FCS football lol. It's sad but true. And it's getting bigger and bigger every year.
 
but not all alums have kids playing youth football and if they do, alot of them stop playing as they get older as middle school football is during the week

again, come up with an intense schedule 7 weekends of the year..I added 3 weekends for 2 basketball rivalry games and another football home game....that's 45 weekends to do what you need to do

Man I agree wholeheartedly and I am deeply involved in youth football.

That's why my kids only played 1 sport for each season. Not gonna be running all over town for these multiple sports during the same season. Football/Cheerleading in the fall, Basketball in the winter, baseball/track in the spring & summer.

True... but even still there aren't THAT many alums with kids playing football in the fall during their school's gametimes. And heck when SU came to play TSU last season even though the game was moved up from 2pm to noon I still left my son's game in Richmond at about 12:15 and made it to BBVA in the 2nd quarter.

Exactly. When I used to coach Youth football in Ft Bend in the 90s, them white folks would roll their ass out to College Station or Austin to see their team.

I remember coaching Greg Bingham's son and the older daughter was a cheerleader at Elkins then at Texas A&M and they would still go to all that crap somehow. LOL. We play the little game and they would roll out immediately to College Station. We just make excuses on not going to these games. Well I should say Houston schools make an excuse. LOL.

Aint nothing packed around Houston on Saturday evenings that can me convince every damn fan or alum of TxSu is out in the streets doing something and not wanting to show up to BBVA. They just not interested. Probably at home drinking a beer watching other games on TV. LOL. Heck they can still get in the streets after the game. Not like Houston closes up at 9 pm or something on a Saturday.
