Make as many excuses as you like but this has to stop!

As we speak another prime example of what lengths some of us go to seeking acceptance or just even to be tolerated by them.

Everybody needs a nga wake up call...they don't come as swiftly as they should come to blacks that wanna be accepted by the white man but they do come...

That's how it always is...I look at it like this

If an hbcu was the ONLY school who even wanted to invest 20k in you and you graduated and got a job cause it required a degree thanks to your hbcu..at WORST, you as a parent should push it

isn't Scott's son a running back somewhere? I remember him at SU in the 90s

I learned a while ago that you will not convince a good % of people on here (probably 20-25%) don't see it like this so I learned to just keep my mouth shut lol. People are gonna do what they wanna do that they see best benefits them so all of the pro-HBCU talk won't get through to them

We don't need the Nick Saban's or even the Jay Hopson's of the world to say anything negative about our schools when for the last 20-25 years or so we've got our own (some not all) who are where they are because of their HBCU that won't even bring up their school. That cold water must be refreshing

I'll never encourage my son or daughter to attend LSU f that racist ass school and others like it...
How you go threaten to kill your QB, take someone life over a dayum game...I don't give a dayum if that's what they do or if it was a joke, you don't take it that far..if I was Odums, I'll tell all my recruits that this happened and add more to it...smh..

+1

Mike Gundy basically told Barry Sanders Jr. don't come to OSU because he wouldn't get the carries. But he wanted to go to the school his dad did. Had one decent game so far. OSU is starting a true freshman ahead of him.

I thought Barry son went to Stanford?

I think it is harder to sell your kid to our schools if you stay far away from them and don't spend time around them enough. Whether they are an athlete or not. You got to expose them.
That's the truth. Former JSU DE Fernando Smith, who was drafted by The Vikings, lives in Orlando and his twin son is committed to play football at NC State. The girl twin is committed to play basketball somewhere else. Their mother is also a JSU alum,

HBCU's don't get the media exposure that larger schools do, so you have to literally push your alma mater on your kids. My kids get a steady dose of FSU, UF and Miami everyday. And we live less than 5 minutes from UCF. So that's my challenge. Luckily, my kids spend their summers in Jackson and get to spend a lot of time on JSU's campus. We keep them in JSU t-shirts. My youngest son likes marching bands so we watch YouTube clips of The Boom. Whatever gets them engaged at an early age. If my kids elect go to school elsewhere, it won't be because they didn't know.

It's shameful that we cannot persuade our children to attend a HBCU. My fiance's son plays football and all he knows is that he wants to play for GSU.

It's like we turn our back on our schools even though they gave us what we have.

Yet, we know what parents are looking at...the NFL and they feel their kids will not get there unless they go to a big college even if it means riding the bench for 3 years.

We had and all SWAC receiver George Farmer. His son ended up going to USC. You have to let your kids make their own decisions. Trust me on this one, George was bigger in the SWAC and S.U. than Sean and started his rookie year in the NFL.

Yes, He was playing for the Jags when I moved to BR in 79 two years after finishing from the G. He was "California Cool"...good football player too.

This is why I admire this man. Although I do not think neither of his children played sports, I believe his son graduated from TxSO and his daughter graduated from Southern University. Both him and his wife are Grambling grads. Beautiful family........

So, when is anyone going to be real and admit that a lot of HBCU's are shitty institutions that don't care any more about these kids than PWC's do? Or we just gonna keep doing the "we'll be better for them than anyone else" thing? There have been people posting on this very forum that talked about their very own jacked up experiences playing at HBCU's, but people really want to keep up the "we'll help you succeed in life" thing lol. Interesting experience for me was, my first college experience was HBCU. I had a few courses with a pretty well known SWAC QB. Dude may have attended all classes a total of 2 times the entire semester and somehow managed to get A's in every one of those classes. There is no "you're better off here" experience. There's a we'll do what it takes to win experience and a we expect you to prove yourself experience. Both apply to both HBCU's and PWC's.

Because nobody believe that shit but Negroes who think the University owes them something for educating them. You bring that same old tired ass example up every time something like this comes up which ain't got shit to do with this topic.

A word of advice seriously..... you need to get over it or just forget you ever went to an hbcu. I can't say you'll feel much better about yourself but at least it's a start.

Don't know about y'all but I got my money's worth from an hbcu..lol best cash I could spend

We may complain about this issue cause we are passionate and have seen how our history slowly gets erased as we get older

If he had most blacks tuned in an enrolled in our campuses, we don't need to worry about diversity to boost numbers

You watch movies like cb4, etc those characters embraced hbcus so imagine if they had social media then when hbcu classics were huge...man

AMEN!!!!

GSU prepared me for life.

If you're an HBCU fan, the concern shouldn't be with kids going to a power 5 school. It should be with kids going to Illinois State, Sam Houston State, Richmond, Charleston Southern and Central Arkansas. Those are schools FCS HBCUs have to win recruiting battles with.

And we know a lot of those schools don't get the same exposure as FBS schools or even some of our schools, but still get really good players.
