Bama State beats Jacksonville State 63-60
The answer to your question is simply no. If we could examine the '93 season, JSU, SU, and Bama State defeated other non-conference foes. J-State defeated more reputable teams. Currently, we have 3 teams in the conference who are winless. And even SU has 3 wins that are not viewed as victories in the NCAA. So, as the conference is winning more OOC games (instead of the familiar 30+ losses), we still are not a 13 seed. I do feel, if SU (or J-State, or 1 of the Bamas) have a strong record the rest of this year and 15-16 conference wins, a SWAC team may get a #15 seed.Somebody tried to correct my post when my original question was, "could this team get a higher seed that the 1993 team received?" Nothing in my original post had anything to do with how SU received a higher than normal seed that year. What it sounds like, some people like to insert themselves into a conversation by stating something that is totally unrelated to the question. My question has everything to do with how high this year's team could get seeded versus the 1993 team and nothing to do with how the 1993 team got such a higher than normal tournament seeding. Please read my original post below and tell me if I said anything on how SU received a higher than normal seed in the 1993 tournament.
Just imagine, if SU had a #15 seed one of those years instead of playing top seeded Kentucky or St. Johns.I suggest whoever made that post trying to correct me on something that wasn't wrong in the first place to go watch ESPN's Two Part Series Documentary on Black Magic. SU appears in that documentary several times with documentary parts on Bob Love, Ben Jobe, Avery Johnson, Bobby Phills, and that 1993 team that upset Georgia Tech in the NCAA tournament.

I remember when the 2006 team gave Duke a rough time.
That season, JSU defeated Tulane, ULL, and Fordham. Tulane and ULL had pretty good teams then (remembering some of the Grambling Lab kids going to those schools). Also, even though they lost, JSU hung with Memphis (State), Illinois, and Kansas.Since you said it, which REPUTABLE teams did JSU defeat that year? Maybe that would help others see the point you are trying to convey.

I couldn't find a complete schedule for SU, but the sched. I saw had SU defeating SLU(twice) and Central Florida (twice) that season. And SU was the #3 seed in the SWAC tourney. The conference was pretty tough back then.
