But he had paid his dues and had EARNED his money when he got it. And he didn't get a raise the next extension either when he was slipping. Now I don't agree in paying any FCS coach 250K. ZERO. Damn shame us HBCUs started over paying. We can take responsibility for that. But now we know better.

If Pete came out of retirement, he would have justified it more than what OMJ should have. His credentials were better and are still better. Just saying. If they were both being interviewed by corporate America. I will bet you my month's check who would get the money and who wouldn't. LOL.

Pete was a D-2 coach and su still gave him that huge salary and started the ball rolling with these huge salaries.

Man, OMJ can beat teams 100 to nothing and not be worth 260K in the FCS ball. Only way a coach is worth that much in FCS is he has won multiple titles and dominating the competition and winning some FBS games. Not to mention is the guy who will be the one who moves you up to FBS. You need to be a trend setter to be worth that kind of money in FCS. Even Craig Bohl before he left ND State was not making that kind of money. It took him to win titles to get the big dollars and then he finally bolted to Wyoming. And he was responsible for multiple FCS titles, wins of FBS opponents and straight dominating his level competition. Not to mention doing so well that he drew Game day a few times to their campus/town. He brought money and attention to ND State. OMJ ain't going to do that and is not capable of doing that. He will not get the JSU fans into a frenzy where they sell out Memorial and he will not dominate the SWAC or win FBS games like Bohl did. So no he ain't worth that money. I would be pissed if we paid Worm that kind of salary.

A D2 coach who just went into the Winston Salem HOF. One who dominated his conference. Also we didn't make Pete no where near the highest paid coach in the SWAC when he arrived in 93. So stop making up stuff. Again, Pete had more cred coming in way back then than OMJ has now. Pete is in 3 schools HOF and in the LA HOF as well. You think outside OMJ being a great player at JSU that he will be one of your best coaches when he is said and done? I know his age hampers his longevity. But I mean in the time that he will have coached. Will you be able to say he was a great coach when he is said and done? If you don't think so or have no inkling. Then you should not even mention Pete and OMJ in the same breath when it comes to compensation.

Jayrob is reaching. We didn't even pay Pete a lot of money when he arrived either. Even for that 93 time frame. Pete was getting paid less than Coach Rob, Big Daddy, and hell probably less than Cardell Jones at Alcorn. I know he was getting paid less than Markham at Bama State, because Casem had us left at the alter waiting on him to take over SU in 92 and he got Bama State to give him a raise at the last minute.

JR, ya'll do get up for JSU. Must be the small school complex.. LOL Because ya'll REALLY want to Valley us.... Valley gets up for us and so do sorry azz SU teams. But we won't need any excuses. We have changed our defense and changed our special teams and our offense will be ready! We already two TDs better than SU simply because your defense is turrible. Wait til you see this new JSU D!

Come on JR, su overpaid Pete after he was long washed up. Pete had su held hostage.

Pete got an extension after the 2007 when he was 8-3 with that lost those 3 games by a combined 13 points. When he got the first big contract, he had just went to back to back SCGs in 03 and 04. So come on man. You got to do better. When he fell totally apart he was already in his last contract and got fired before his final year of the last deal. So basically he got paid in after the 04 SCG season. So 05, 06 and 07 were the contract years. He gets an extension with no increase after that 07 season. Coaches the 08 and 09 season and gets fired at the end of 09 with one year left on his deal.

Your sure right, how could a jag have a problem with the big salaries when they are the one who started that shit. JSU just decided to raise the bar because there were a lot of supporters with money whom didn't mind donating toward HJ but originally all swag schools were no higher than $150,000 a while back but SU was at $200,000 plus incentives and his $20,000 housing bonus.

Stump go fired in his last year. Stump only got that much because the NFL pays position coaches way more than we pay head coaches in FCS. So he still took a pay cut. Stump makes about 400K with the Cardinals right now.

Yep we started it. But don't mean folks got to keep doing it. How do you feel that OMJ makes more than the top FCS coaches who would beat the brakes off him and his team? At least Pete had made SU into a dominant program in HBCU world and heck beat some playoff bound NW LA State teams as well before he made that 200K. I was against it then. But at least Pete had a case to argue for it. He resurrected the SU program and did stuff no coach had done since AW Mumford. OMJ is not that type of change the game coach. He is not going to be WC Gorden or even Big Daddy Carson or Bob Hill. He will finish his career barely better than Bell. Watch.

Plus OMJ was in retirement. You did not have to pay him that kind of money. When Pete was at his heyday, folks were interested in hiring him away from SU. Who was lined up to hire OMJ? Even Jenkins was not worth 260K. Bottom line no coach in FCS is worth 260K. Damn sure not at our schools who can't win an OOC game to save their lives. We all get beat to sleep by OOC competition.
 
Pete and Harold Jackson has about the same knowledge of football. Pete just surrounded himself with great coordinators as to what HJ is trying to do now. Only thing is SU gave Pete time to build his program whether it was successful or not they still have him the time and support until proven otherwise. That's what JSU needs to do with HJ especially his 1st and 2nd year then after that and things are not getting better I could respect some type of reevaluation. But hey after this season only people who will mention HJ are the ones who team got there azz whooped JSU on some type of destruction mission this year. The team knew they were capable of winning last year but everything was new but this year the kid themselves are ready to show that they were ready last year despite all the negativity. JSU vs Grambling SCG 2015. Grambling vs Morgan State Celebration Bowl 2015.... The JSU Grbling game will be either or. Jsu will not beat them twice. So JSU either beat gsu in regular season and loose SCG or loose regular season and win SCG . If HJ beats Grbling twice in one year then He deserves apologies from all fans. That's something that has not been done in the past 10 years and especially if he beats TnSU and GSU twice. I support HJ and the entire team this year. Sometimes what's good for you might not be what you want at that time but down the line you'll be able to look back and say your glad what happened happened

Pete also knew how to hire good coordinators right out the gate in a more competitive SWAC some would say back then.

Football knowledge, I seriously doubt OMJ has the same Football IQ as Pete Richardson.

Lol....they seem to forget Pete auditioned and proved himself for the SU gig by playing them tough at wssu but it still wasn't an easy road as Archie coolie was going to be SU's version of omj before intervention
