Montgomery Advertiser suing Bama state, insinuates recent cheating?

To be fair. I don'tremember the last time josh moon wrote something positive about bama state. He seems to always be looking for the dirt. If I'm wrong, correct me and I'll apologize. Rankinwrote that he doesn't agree that the coverage of bama state is 90% negative. Maybe not 90%, but i think we can agree on the word disproportionately. If he disagrees, he has a database he can pull up all the stories from the last year and count it up. He can clear up that misconception with cold hard facts. If jenkins or his coaches were out there with the guys then they are stupid and deserved to be roasted. If the guys went out and worked on rheir own that sounds like the type of men you want on the team. Bama state has never... never announced who would not be back. They still haven't announced spring basketball signees. Can Moon ask about that? Probably not. Would be toocmuch positive writting about two 3 stars choosing bama state. Why would they do that. That'd be like a white woman deciding to live life as a black woman.
You are spot on with this analysis. Even Rankin is guilty. I remember being totally pissed with him after a story he did just after we hired Jenkins. He interviewed Damian Love, our returning center. Damian is a great young man. I mean just a great student and athlete. Rankins twisted the kids words as if he was blaming Coach Barlow for the team's coming up short in years past. The young man loves coach Barlow and is very appreciative of him, but Rankin took the opportunity to take advantage of the young man's words to fing a way to write a negative story.

IF, there was unauthorized practicmes, then those involved need to be held accontable PERIOD. But, I will sure as heck not believe that based on a rumor and an article by Josh Moon or Duane Rankins.

Josh is looking for dirt. He wants to know what players have left or been asked to leave so that he can then try to blame that on Jenkin's coaching s style. Yes, some players left. The twins at DB left and went to jacksonville State, prior to hiring Jenkins. some were asked to leave because of illegal drug use, poor grades, and disciplinary reasons. That's the story. Now, the university should have gotten in front of this story and controlled the narrative. How about the university release a statement that X number of players have been released and here is why..... We made these moves to improve our APR and improve the performance of the football team. End of story. The PR team at ASU is not up to the standard it needs to be, AND, Josh is searching for dirt, and the university is NOT going to provide dirt that will be used to write one more negative story.

So, ASU hired a coach with a "history" of breaking the rules? Please produce that documented history. I'd like to know about it.

Dude please. You get on here going on all these crazy rants asking stupid questions like this that everybody knows the answer to. Not only did Bama hire a coach that has a bad history, they have a bad history of cheating and being in the media for bad things moreso than any HBCU lately. You can get on here and rant all you want to take up for you school but it still won't change how wrong yall are or always have been. How bout yall actually learn to grow up, be adults, and do the right thing for once. If yall don't agree with nothing Moon says or does get off yall sorry tails and do somethin about it so that yall don't give him no choice but to write about something good or not at all and yall won't be in the spotlight for negative stuff. Yall don't have to always do the wrong thing, yall just choose to, then look crazy in the end and get upset at everybody else cuz yall forgot to take yalls trash out. It makes no sense. You and I both know that. You could be one of the people trying to figure out ways to help out or make some kind of difference instead of whining bout what we are saying and talkin about on a social media forum. If it was any other school in the SWAC, folks would still be talkin ish but since yall in the media so much with this same person yall put yourselves out there. We ain't the ones you need to be mad or throwing all these questions at. Smh. That man just doin his job like any other reporter that's near HBCUs as stated earlier. Drama sells and gets the most attention and that's exactly what yall keep dishing out.

A bad history of what? You still didn't answer the previous question. All you did post what others stated. A majority of the stuff that has been stated has been allegations due to not receiving information from PR.

Lol if they were just "allegations" why haven't yall proven them to not be true? One of yalls main problems there. Smh.

Not only that, but I doubt a team of players who had a good winning streak over the last four years with this man would blatantly lie on him for no reason.

If there were facts why hasn't anyone come out to confirm it? I guess you one of those people that believe everything that he hears

And you know that based on what? Oh that's right.....it's based on what you heard and not what you know. Apparently, nobody knows the full story between the former BCU players and Jenkins. Common sense would tell you that there is more than one side to a story.

So if someone put somethin in the news or published somethin about a school, you wouldn't believe it? Go ahead lie and say no. Smh. You probably have done it plenty of times. Stop beating around the bush and just crush Moon with true facts if nothing he says is true. Yall are pathetic.

And obviously common sense would tell yall to find out the other side before you up and hire somebody for a job. If yall did so yall would be able crush these "allegations". Now that's common sense for you.

It's funny you bring up the two side thing being the fact that the players are more important than the coach in any instance. How bout yall tell us Brian Jenkins side?

Oh, so you have never seen anything published in a newpaper that has been incorrect? You can't be serious

In this legal system, it is not ASU's duty to prove something false; the burden is on the accuser to prove that the allegations are true.

Actually, in the case of defamation/libel law, it's on Alabama State to prove ...
1. The information published by the Montgomery Advertiser is false
2. The published information caused some kind of harm or injury to the reputation of Alabama State
3. The Montgomery Advertiser published false information with the intent to harm (actual malice)

Obviously Bama knows no better. Smh. They need to hire somebody to teach them to think

I never said that. With the mindset of people we tend to believe most things we see published til proven otherwise. You KNOW this so don't even act like you ain't know what I was talkin about.

Is there any allegation that Bama State is suing for defamation? I thought this was someone telling Alabama State to disprove the allegations made against it.

Oracle,

Currently there are no rumblings that Bama State will sue for defamation. Under the law for libel (which this case could be), that's the basic checklist Bama State have to answer in order to answer.

I am familiar with the burden of proof for defamation. What I thought was just that JaySBlue was saying that the allegations against Bama State were true just because someone made them, and he was asking Bama State posters to prove the allegations to be false. In context, it is proper for Bama State posters to deny the allegations and ask have the accuser to prove the truth of them. If false allegations are made and Bama State sues for defamation, then the burden falls on Bama State to prove reckless disregard for the truth (unless the false allegation is made about someone at Bama State who is not held to be a public person or public official; that person would not have to prove reckless disregard of the facts).

The same individuals that brought the Jenkins allegations to Josh Moon and the Montgomery Advertiser had previously shopped them to the Daytona/Orlando media. They refused to publish the allegations but the Advertiser did. That should tell you something about Jenkins tenure at BCU. BTW, BCU reported the allegations to the NCAA. I'm not aware of a finding being release. Jenkins told me he had no concerns about the allegations and he broke no rules. That's all we can go on until there is document proof of wrong doing. He and his staff is working hard recruiting and planning for the season. Season ticket sales are going well and Hornet fans are excited about the upcoming football season.

Nah I wasn't saying they were true, just that they must be since no one from Bama State can really deny them but instead argue back and fourth on whether they were or not. Tbh, I hope they ain't true jus because I don't like HBCUs in that negative light but with they way they talkin and handling stuff it makes it seem as if things are true. There's always a better way to handle situations, especially when it comes to legal matters that can really hurt bad and we as HBCUs don't need that.
