Offensively SU was better in 2014 than 2013. That rush attack really opened things up and made all teams respect the run and pass. The offensive line was also stronger.Play calling was also better. Defense just didn't have depth which won't be a problem this season. That exact same offensive attack will return with experience. Only question will be how we catch on without having Spring practice and if the defense can be consistent.
 
I agree wit TP about Gram, which is what i was getting at in the other thread though i do think they still probably have a better team than most. But SU has a pretty decent offense, i will say that.

That is sorta why I am shocked that you all didn't just name Orlando for HC and go out and revamp the defense. But as of right now, I can see you all getting in the mix for the WEST crown. I am not buying the UAPB hype and TxSo is in bad shape. It's between you guys, SU and GSU. Honestly, I don't know how I feel about GSU because, aside from Alcorn, all they did last year was beat some bad teams. They just looked great because no even expected that much. SU is not going in the right direction in my opinion. Aside from all of the mid-season turmoil, SU was not the team they were in 2013 and that 2013 team wasn't even good. So even tho I think PV is 2-3 years away, I think if the ball bounces your way enough, you could be in Houston in December.

Hey potna, nobody said anything about HOUSTON. I don't predict us there this year, we had too many things rearranged for that. The coaches have been working hard and if Simmons like a ground game, he will get that at PV, defensively I like some things they did, but I still don't know what the pieces look like together and unfortunately the coaches don't either due to no spring game. I predict us playing well but not well enough for Houston just yet. Don't sleep on the Grammys, they working hard down there in LA, they might have the edge this year, but the west crown will be painted purple and gold in 2016

Alcorn's defense was able to get teams off the field. Recall the last time PV went to Alcorn? Who won the game for Alcorn, the offense or the defense? I will also say this, your offense will depend on if all of the components are in place and IF you are gonna run Simmons offense (which you all don't seem sure of), you might not get happy until maybe next season.

The one area where you all may have an advantage over Alcorn with Simmons is that Gibbs, Jr. is not a passer. He is a runner. Simmons offense is ground based. If your line can provide the blocking and your RBs can hit holes, you will do well. However, if teams can stop the run game, like JSU did and more than likely what GSU did, then that offense is vulnerable. UNLESS you have a QB that can pick a secondary apart. Gibbs can't throw so that limited Alcorn. Otherwise, you better hope the defense can get the ball back for you. SU didn't have the talent on defense to stop Alcorn's run game so that allowed the Alcorn offense to have a field day. So in other words, if you plan to be successful with Simmons offense, your o-line better be ready!

TP, we lost the almost offensively offensive shootout 77-48. Believe it or not, we were actually in the game @ or near the 36 pt or so figure (they were only in the high 40s then and I think we were only down by 2TDs @ that point lol). Alcorn had a hard time getting PVAMU's offense off the field so it called upon PVAMU's offense to help itself get itself off the field *smh* (you'd have to see the game to understand). You're right though. The OL is key to PVAMU's offense moving the ball. There are several upon several who can tote/catch the rock but if we don't have folks blocking for us, we'll be doomed (again).

What PV7 states above is dead on ^^^^^^^^. I keep forgetting about speedy Mr Lockett. Mr Brown, Mr Hebert, and Mr Lockett will indeed form a very strong backfield presence, that can run as well as catch, for PVAMU's offense. The OL has some incoming as well as a few txfers who I think could provide an immediate impact. They have the size. They have the power (weightlifting capacity ::read:: ) but the question begs, do they have the will to move some defenders backwards AND stay disciplined in doing so?

Add that Randell Menard is back . Also Most of the players that had clearinghouse issues will be back.
