Shaka Smart to Texas?


Uh is the type of school that refuses to hire from a SWAC school...they think hiring from A&M, UT, etc. means their getting a better product when a SWAC product would work harder with better resources

They have a new AD now. So we we will see how he does. The football hire was totally different than the past. Guess it's too early to fire the basketball coach. Next year will be his make or break season. Another thing is they don't like to pay either.
 



Difference is the hbcu coach is coaching athletes he could get into school....the pwc coach is coaching guys who have no way in hell in enrolling if it was not for sports

Those black jocks were exploited LONG before they set foot at that college and I don't see a lot of blacks trying to help those boys when they don't make it. Yet will do everything in their power from firing teachers to forging records to make sure they get taken advantage of by colleges.

JR, not all necks chew bacca. And not all necks are from Ga. That area IS neck territory. Trust me. I know first hand.

That's not every kid TBF. Stop making it seem the majority of these kids are dummies and can't get into schools. I listen to alot of these big school athletes speak. Alot of them are smarter than we give them credit. Now whether they are steered to certain majors if a different story. But let's not start sounding like the average white boy who thinks all our black athletes are not academically sharp.
 
Looks like Smart got a 7-year deal making $3 million each year. He should be able to win immediately because the talent has always been there. The winner in all of this was Gregg Marshall, Wichita State can no longer be called a mid-major when they are paying their coach $3 million now.

I can see Sandy Springs because it's a Suburb having their share. That Highlands area got a bunch of yuppies just like the Vinings now.
A redneck to me is a country good ole white boy who has been exposed to type of rural work or blue collar work experience. They may be country rich.

City or uppity rich white folks are different. They hate rednecks as well as us blacks when they are racists. They have the country club mentality. It's all about being a blue blood republican for them. Most Rednecks are tea party nutts. Lol.

I didn't say dummies....I said most of them at the bigger schools are admitted as special admits as they are there based on the NCAA score, not the basic university standards meaning they should not even be there...alot of them speak good now as they're in the limelight at an early age so the opportunities are there for them to practice consistently

at the end of the day if it was not for athletics and the normal high profile kid at Kentucky had to be enrolled for his transcript, he's not there but an HBCU would get them unless their just plain horrible grade wise

Look at A&M and out of 40K students, may 1,000 or so are black and even less when you take sports away

I agree. If you attended and graduated from one of those schools and spoke @ length w/ a few of color here and there, you'd understand this instead of making assumptions. Good post, JR.
 
I know of two fam members at Texas A&M now and what they say about the atmosphere is all I need to know.....we won't even get to athletes and what they're "learning" as I'm not sure some folks will want to take blinders off

A person who went there for academics and paid their way will have a way different experience than someone there on a sports scholarship whose schedule is made out for them

Bottom line....we are getting exploited and even they will tell you..why not help your own if your going to be used?
 
Must be a down south thing, tbf lol. The football and basketball student-athletes I met, interacted w/, broke bread w/, trained w/, played bball w/, and hung out w/ for a few years from THE Ohio State University, University of Michigan, Notre Dame, Purdue University, Ohio University, Penn State, and University of Cincinnati were quite the opposite. Guys were academically driven, very astute, articulate, and freakishly athletic. Check their grad rates pre-APR lol.

What I semi-tripped on, while living there and not visiting lol, were 2 former univ of alabama and 1 former florida univ football players, who were under contract w/ the Bengals. They sounded the part of being dumb as a rock - along w/ this one cat I knew from my younger years blah blah blah. :D lololol Otherwise, I was quite impressed w/ what I saw in those parts in the upper mid-west and I'm sure they haven't dumbed themselves down just so others can play "ball." *smh*

I'm sure JR can elaborate more, since he actually lived there as well, and is not throwing around assumptions. :)
