Good question about Legion field. The highschools don't play there?
all of Birmingham's inner city schools have new schools that came with new on campus stadiums.... so the games are played on campus now.

Lol...Bama State is accepting donations for the $1m entry fee to move up to FBS. Will you donate money to make this move?
need 1,000 people to donate 1,000 dollars for the million. Since I'm not alumni, I'll give a hundred, heck, the cost of football & basketball season tickets, so right at 300. but my dad is an alum and he's got his 1,000.
People laugh at me when i say it... but UAB could easily be where UA is right now. UAB has MONEY.

UAB Annual Impact on the Alabama Economy
As the largest single employer in Alabama, with more than 23,000 employees, UAB partners with organizations such as Birmingham Business Alliance and the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama — to spur robust economic development.
UAB's 2010 Economic Impact Study, which was conducted by the nationally respected firm Tripp-Umbach, calculated UAB's impact on the state of Alabama at $4.6 billion. The economic and employment impact of UAB’s expansion in 2020 (mid-range scenario) is projected to grow to $6.6 billion, generate 72,449 jobs and create $431.4 million in state and local tax revenue.
In 2013, UAB’s annual economic impact on Alabama already exceeds $5 billion:
UAB supports more than 61,000 jobs statewide — one in 33 in Alabama.
UAB generates $1 in every $25 in the state’s budget.
The state’s return on investment in UAB exceeds 20 to 1.
Is this the demise of legion field? Home and Home Magic City Classic?
This ain't shocking to me. UAB just needs to get from under the UA system. They could end up being like UCF is in FL (largest school in the state) because they aren't being held back
Some of largest schools in California don't have a football program due to location.
California State University Long Beach enrollment - 35,586
California State University Fullerton enrollment - 38,128
California State University Northridge enrollment - 38,310
USC and UCLA are kings of football in the Southern California area and the three schools above have a much larger enrollment than USC and UCLA.

That's not quite true. Both UCLA and USC have enrollments over 40,000

But those schools have never had football. I'm sure if push came to shove and they wanted to, they could (although they probably wouldn't unless it's feasible and CSUF has dropped other sports. They're a national power in baseball though).
Guess it's a lot easier to a start up football program in Texas than CA because schools like Texas State were able to do it easily

With Alabama State enrollment and financial woes do you really think this is feasible. Can Alabama State football carry a 10-35 million deficit which is what several lower tear FBS teams carry. UAB is in the hole 17.7 million.. No smack just serious questions. Can you saddle and already struggling budget with those kinds of debt. Add to it the stadium deficit you already have...
I believe that the first hbcu to move up and do it right will not have the same problems that other lower tier fbs schools have. I think the nature of being the first and only, like notre dame will provide some benefit. as well as many minority head coaches that are looking for positions, the first hbcu to move up will become a launching pad for young black coaches to show how talented they really are.
