Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston wasn’t penalized Saturday when he shoved center judge Michael Webster aside while trying to snap the ball in the third quarter. The referee was holding up play to allow Boston College to make a substitution between plays, but Winston wanted the ball as quickly as possible.

The referee is supposed to stand over the football and not allow the center to get into a stance in such situations, but the Seminoles’ center was already in place. Doug Rhodes, the ACC coordinator of officials, said that Winston wasn’t penalized for the push because the contact was “insignificant.”

The whistle had blown and the ref stood in the wrong place. I've never seen a ref basically under center.

When the whistle is blown to start play...you start play. How many times have we seen subs running off the field even diving off in order not to get a penalty.

Now yall know if this Tim Tebow folks would have been screaming how much of a competitor his is....but since this is Winston, with his past...folks wanna say he shoved the ref.

Get out of here with that bull. The ref was doing his job. If the offense subs in a player you have to give the defense a chance to sub too before taking a snap.

Even if the ref was wrong, add this on to a world wind of colossal follies mounting for Winston. On another note, it's my understanding that Jameis had a lot of problems in high school like not going to class and "begging the principal to let him graduate." We can say it's "hearsay," but this comes from some of his own high school classmates. That's nothing new, because players go through this type of thing all the time. The recipe for disaster awaits him in the midst.

If I am a ref and a player pushes me out of the way for whatever reason, his azz is gonna get flagged on the spot. period.

One word money. I am willing to bet that ref got a fat pay stash in his bag after the game. Only the fans are mad. He and his family are smiling all the way to the bank.

Game is at Doak. Will likely be SEC officials.

It's ACC officials due to the Swindle in the Swamp in 2003. After the ACC crew just completely screwed Florida in that game, the home team has played with their own set of refs since.

Play better defense lol

Hell, I'd be salty if Chris Rix of all people beat me.

It was all of the BS before that angering everyone. Heck, there was a BS pass interference call before that TD too. There were like 5 fumbles/no calls that all went in favor of Florida State, not to mention the BS penalties. The announcers were even saying that it was the worst officiated game they have ever seen. If you didn't believe that referees would cheat in a game, just watch that game. lol And that game was the final domino that started the movement for Instant Replay.

You can't claim refs are cheating without acknowledging what they have to gain by doing so.

A&M football fan since birth Crimson tide fan since 5 years old ...but the Seminoles have always been my 3rd favorite...

if Alabama can't win it all this year I want Famous Jameis from Hueytown Alabama 205 to get him another ring... GO NOLES

I don't think he should've been ejected but the officials should have told him "hey don't do that again or anything close to it"... I do think Jameis needs a mentor though that can guide him on being a better professional athlete when the time comes..maybe Lebron or Micheal Jordan or even my favorite NBA player besides MJ...Kobe Bryant

He definitely needs some guidance.
