You mean the truth? You think we would trade Memorial for that rinky dink stadium ya'll have? REALLY? Memorial is ALL concrete.. ALL THE WAY THROUGH! It's elevated off the ground, we have a better scoreboard, better kept field and better locker rooms.

You got a point there TP. All natural grass verses some fake stuff. I'll take natural grass almost any day.

All that ol'e azz concrete can collapse in that World War I stadium. Remember, ASU's stadium is designed to eventually hold 55,000. Yall can build a 35k-50k seat dome, but you will have to set dynamite to it if you expand it. :lol:

You've never average 20,000 in your history so why even bring up expansion?
 
It seems like some posters would be interested in knowing the design flaws that could possibly be incorporated into a dome that is similar to the Georgia Dome. But I guess they think that a tornado would just go around any dome built in Jackson, MS.

Although the Superdome has paid for itself 10 times over, back then when it was built, engineers would overdesign or increase the safety factor exponentially to compensate for any design flaws. Now days, engineers are designing stadiums to meet budget, such as the architecturally engineered (oxymoron) $60 million dollar Allen ISD football stadium that is now in repair.

Here's a good example of the Pineville Expressway bridge in my home town and how engineers used to overdesign structures. Although both spans over the Red River were built around the same time, noticed the concrete base that support one span across the river compared to the concrete base that support the other span. One span is supported by the base support of the old bridge, which is a massive amount of concrete and the other span was built completely new.

Major weather-related issues

Three years after the completion of the dome, the integrity of its roof became an issue. During a Falcons pre-season game in August 1995, a severe rainstorm caused water to pool up on the fabric, tearing part of the material and causing a section of the roof to fall into the stadium. The storm was intense enough that the roof panels could be seen moving during the game, and the water and roof material later fell with enough force to smash seats in the upper decks and knock holes in concrete floors. The collapse occurred after fans left the stadium, and no one was injured during the incident. The roof was eventually repaired in a way that prevented similar incidents from occurring in the future.

In the 2008 Atlanta tornado outbreak on March 14, 2008, during the 2008 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament, a tornado ripped two holes in the dome during the Alabama–Mississippi State quarterfinal game, which delayed the game for one hour and three minutes. The quarterfinal game to follow between the Kentucky Wildcats and Georgia Bulldogs was postponed to the following day. The resulting damage forced the rest of the tournament to be moved to the Alexander Memorial Coliseum at Georgia Tech.

Dude, it's not like y'all have a choice. I hope you happy with Klan Memorial Stadium though since you guys won't be having your own stadium anytime soon.

Again, as long was we have the best stadium in 1-AA (FCS), why you think we would be concerned?

The thought of you even trying to compare that stadium that the city didn't even want anymore to our stadium is ridiculous!Hell, Harold Jackson was probably looking for the colored only water fountains in that old stadium.

Our stadium has been renovated enough to stay up to par with and EXCEED what you have. AND we have the biggest parking lot in the conference. Ya'll don't even have parking... :smh:

I don't think the City of Jackson ever owned the stadium. I believe the stadium was initially built and owned by the State of Mississippi.

untrue.... The press boxes in Memorial are horrific... and do they even have any luxury suites?

Man you have no regard for the truth or as someone else said...you will just say anything. It's obvious you've never been there..there's more parking around that that stadium than..... nevamind. :lol:
