The University of Michigan football team is a complete mess

The Vilian
This shat is worse than when Rich Rod was the coach. Nobody could have possibly imagine it could get this bad. Now this last disgrace is all over the news and social media. You got the coach and the AD given conflicting reports about a player who stayed in the game with a possible concussion. Now you got recruits decommitting. This shat is real bad.

UM's Head Coach Brady Hoke: Shane Morris did not have concussion

Ann Arbor – Michigan sophomore quarterback Shane Morris was not diagnosed with a concussion, Michigan coach Brady Hoke said at his weekly news conference on Monday.

Hoke and the program have come under fire since Saturday night's loss to Minnesota in which Morris, who was making his first career regular-season start, suffered a high left ankle sprain and, while hobbled, stayed in the game and took a hard helmet-to-chin hit.

After that fourth-quarter hit, Morris wobbled after getting up and grabbed right tackle Ben Braden for stability. Morris remained in the game after apparently waving off assistance and telling offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier that he was OK to play. He was removed after the next play.

There has been considerable speculation Morris suffered a concussion after the hit that drew a roughing-the-passer penalty. Various national news outlets, ABC News, Good Morning America and the Today Show, have featured segments on this situation.

Hoke was asked Monday if Morris had been diagnosed with a concussion.

"Everything I know of, no," Hoke said.

Athletic Director Brandon: Morris had 'probable, mild concussion'

Michigan quarterback Shane Morris was diagnosed with a "probable, mild concussion" in addition to a high ankle sprain, according to statement released early Tuesday morning by Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon.

Brandon, in the statement, said the diagnosis was not clear on the field during Saturday's game against Minnesota. Morris took a hard helmet-to-chin hit in the fourth quarter and after requiring assistance from right tackle Ben Braden to stand, he remained in the game for a play.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke was asked Monday during his weekly news conference if Morris had been diagnosed with a concussion.

"Everything I know of, no," Hoke said.

When asked if Morris was put through the sideline protocol to check for a concussion, Hoke deferred to a statement from the medical department, which arrived at about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Hoke said he would never knowingly play a player with a head injury.

Brandon said in the statement that there was "inadequate communication" among the team physicians, medical staff and Hoke. He referenced confusion on the sideline and apologized for mistakes made.

"Coach Hoke was not provided the updated diagnosis before making a public statement on Monday," Brandon said. "This is another mistake that cannot occur again."

After the game, Morris underwent a "comprehensive concussion evaluation" and has been twice evaluated since then, according to the statement.

They need a Harbaugh type to come in and give that program so credibility not a hot shot hire from a non-power 5 conference like Hoke who was doing well at SDSU but jumped in well over his head at Michigan. That's one of those "Top 15" jobs that they keep referring to that needs someone that brings in instant respect.

Apparently they have already begun the AD search. The current AD struck out big time with the Hoke hire.

Michigan AD Dave Brandon on His Way Out?

A source has informed CoachingSearch.com that Michigan has gauged the interest of UConn director of athletics Warde Manuel and Boston College athletic director Brad Bates about their interest in the same position at Michigan.

Current Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon has been under heavy scrutiny for an extended period of time for decisions that have alienated much of the Wolverines fan base.

Before arriving in Ann Arbor, Brandon was the chariman of the board, CEO and manager of Domino’s Pizza. He has been blamed for creating too much of a corporate environment at Michigan athletic events and the fan attendance has lagged.

With the way the Michigan football program (2-3) is performing this season, there is reason to suspect a possible head coaching change, too. If that is the case, Brandon may not be the appropriate person to make any decision regarding the future of Brady Hoke or a possible successor.

Manuel is a graduate of Michigan and played football under Bo Schembechler. Before accepting the UConn athletic director position, Manuel served six years as the athletic director at Buffalo.

Bates was also a part of the Wolverines football program under Schembechler. Bates holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan, and a doctorate degree from Vanderbilt.

Harbaugh aint taking that Job...

His brother might though. Everybody is focusing in on the wrong Harbaugh. Alot of folks close to them say John Harbaugh is also pissed at his organization (Ravens) for not listening to him on the Ray Rice situation. He apparently is also not fond of the current Ravens locker room.

Jim seems like the choice because he is a Michigan man. But he tore his drawers with his alma mater with some comments about the academics at the school a few years back. So it would be some fence mending needing to be done. I am sure the old Les Miles to Michigan cry will happen again and he pimps LSU into another raise and extension like he always does every other year. LOL.

Should be interesting to see what they do.

JR, I'm not sure LSU will allow Miles to pimp them this year. They may encourage him to go after this season. Saturday's game at Auburn is huge for the Bengal Tigers.

LOL @ JC. He always seems to find a way. He has used Michigan twice for raises and the year before last he used his Michigan buddies at University of Arkansas to throw out that they were interested in Miles coming to Razorback country. Another raise happened after he had forfeited an extra year or some bonus due to rules violations. He basically got all that back and some more for that little bit of a hint he may leave for Arkansas. Which a blind man could see it would have made no damn sense to leave LSU for Arkansas. LOL. Miles is the biggest pimp in college football.

So I will wait for the Miles to Michigan rumors to start again, knowing he ain't going no where.

LSU is young this year. I don't think the LSU folks are going to be too hard on Les for this team. He is going to be loaded next year. Especially if Brandon Harris turns out to be the man at QB. Which I think he will.

Miles has too much future talent to leave now. The freshman class he has now is going to be a beast in 2 years. Miles lost a lot to the draft two years straight. All Miles has to do is beef up his linemen, which shouldn't be that hard for LSU. The only thing miles has to worry about is keeping his players out of trouble.

Oh I know he ain't leaving. But watch his name gets dropped and he gets dropped even more money to stay even though we all know he ain't leaving LSU.

I thought they messed up by not working with Rich Rod... That "He's not a Michigan man" foolishness cost them a good coach. He needed time to get the athletes he needed to run that spread and it would have worked had they supported rather than sit up and think they were still relevant. Too bad... I kinda used to like watching the Wolverines when I was growing up. Always pulled for them to beat Ohio State (don't know why)

I think if Les Miles leaves, Rich Rod would be a good choice for LSU. (Not that I really give a damn)

Na, Rich Rod was going to destroy the program even further. LSU would go downhill with Rich Rod at the the helm. Them little bitty players he likes to recruit would get demolished in the SEC.

It was not going to work with them small arse players he was recruiting. He still has not won that much at Arizona. You got to have some hosses on defense and Rich Rod refuses to have stellar defenses. The other part was he was too in their face arrogant with the Michigan folks. Can't do that either if you ain't one of them. Urban Meyer is an arrogant cat. But he knows not to say crazy isht to Ohio State folks even though his first job was at Ohio State. LOL. Rich Rod ain't politically savvy. Even Nick Saban ain't crazy to ruffle the Bama folks up.

Anyway those Michigan folks are biggity and uppity type folks. They ain't too kind to be told how their school or team should be run.

This is why I laugh when folks say Mississippi State can't win the SEC West.

When you look at how traditional powers like Michigan, Tennessee and Florida have struggled with coaching changes, it's easy to see that Alabama and LSU could also struggle when they have a coaching change. It's already happened at Bama. When Gene Stallings left, Bama struggled for a while before Nick Saban went there. Heck, Sylvester Croom even beat Saban in his first year at Bama. LSU struggled for years before Saban went there.

Change is going to come. Saban and Miles can't coach forever. Who is to say that MSU won't be in a position to take advantage of that situation when those changes happen?

You just done hit that hard left right in the middle of the thread.

Nah, my point is that major programs often struggle when they have coaching changes. Which leaves an opportunity for other programs.

The thread can keep going.
