Okay..that's fine! I still think he's the best Yankee ever based on longevity, consistency, winning, and overall contributions to the game. He actually should have been MVP in 1999 (I think that was the year) but voters vote how they vote. Those guys who you all rated above him ("during his playing days") didn't play for the Yankees. Even if they had, none of them would finish on the all-time hit list above Jeter who sits at #6. Yeah, they were all Home run hitters during the homerun era (steroids, etc) but homeruns aren't the only criteria, especially for a shortstop.
For those who say "A-Rod was a shortstop", my answer to that is "who got moved!"
In fairness to A-Rod he got moved because they didn't want to piss off Jeter. It's without question skill wise and talent wise A-Rod without question was a better shortstop. I believe the year Jeter was snubbed that you're referring to was 2006. I agree with that. Statistcally that was probably his best year.
