Mississippi High School Football Championships leaving Jackson!(Memorial Stadium)

One reason why I slammed SUjag because he tried to make it a JSU issue when its not.....

That's stupid though. When the games will be held on MSU's campus, you better believe it'll be an MSU issue. Same for OM and USM. Definitely an OM and USM issue. Too bad you all don't have the foresight or initiative to make sure it's a JSU issue also.

Slammed me ....

Very bad excuse!!!! Evangel Christian, Bastrop, Neville, and West Monroe won several state titles and they all had to travel a long distance to New Orleans. A lot times they travelled to New Orleans to beat teams from the New Orleans area. John Curtis is probably the only New Orleans area team that have remained consistently dominated.

Add Haynesville to that list too.

Fixed it for you, and TO HELL WITH EVANGEL !!!

LOL @ this thread..y'all need to put an asterisk by Bastrop since the LHSAA took those titles from them due to illegally recruiting kids from Katrina-stricken areas...

But I completely agree with JR on this one.

Sidenote: I covered a lot of LHSAA executive committee meetings, and the bellyaching and politicking that comes with determining championship sites is nerve-wrecking.

I'm sorry. I should have typed.

Ok.. but that was New Orleans.. If NO was centrally located and they moved it to Salt Lake, LA, I think people would not be too happy.

Stadium-size wise, I think it should be at Alcorn.

Jackson State didn't submit a proposal to keep the games in Jackson. Eric Stringfellow claims Jackson State lost money on the games in 2013 and the Mississippi High School Association still owes Jackson State money.

Oh dayum.. the white folks owe us money? I know they don't want THAT made public.. :lmao:

Wherever the game is played, that's still no excuse for losing.

I wonder if the concerned parties at JSU ever had a sit down with the Jackson or Hinds County Chamber of Commerce to elicit there financial support or sponsorship of the games before they decided not to submit a proposal to keep the games in Jackson? Also, I wonder how much did the financial blow from the homecoming fiasco factored into this decision?

LOL @ LS. I don't think folks understand this is not a JSU thing. This is a Jackson MS thing. The person who needs to speak up is the DAMN NEW MAYOR!!

This is just another attempt to take MONEY out of the city of Jackson. You have explained it well. I would not keep arguing with folks who can't see this is bigger than JSU. JSU name just happened to be on Memorial. Even if it was not. Them white MHSSA mofos would still try to move their title games out all BLACK Jackson, Ms and on to the campuses of Ole Miss, Ms State and USM. The Jackson Mayor and City Council should be fighting for it. As well as the JPS Superintendent who schools are part of MHSSA.

So it has nothing to do with JSU as well as Jackson? Do you think the games would've been moved if Ole Miss owned the stadium? Heck no.

Uhh, Mississippi has nothing comparable to the Superdome, so that is not a valid argument. The Superdome is an NFL venue. What high school players wouldn't want to play there regardless of the distance.

LOL. I don't know if they care about the Hoops or not. Not as many white fans on MS HS Basketball. But you are right. All hell will break loose in Jackson if that happens.

Wrong again. Many White folks attend the championship games in Jackson from all parts of the state.

I agree with you on this. I can almost guarantee that if MSU or Ole Miss owned Memorial, those games would stay right where they are with no questions asked. Why folks say it's different just when JSU gets ownership away from the state is not mere coincidence after being at Memorial for 25 years. Playing championship games at Memorial for 25 years but suddenly want to move the games the same year JSU gains control? Doesn't sound coincidental to me.

And folks say this doesn't have anything to do with JSU?! Hahahaha!! They don't wanna pay, so they're leaving. LOL!
I betcha they'd try to work something out with Ole Miss.
Even if JSU isn't a host site, some of those rotations should include Black schools and not ALL White schools. That's my main point. If we let this go, then what else will them folks try to snatch away inspite of the fact that 80 percent of the athletes in football and basketball are Black.
You don't just sit back and watch folks take and take from you AFTER the fact. You speak up before the ink is put to paper.

While I understand that race does play a part in this I do not fully think that JSU leaders really rolled out the red carpet to MHSAA.... We seem to have the attitude that we are JSU and you should obey to our demands without fully compromising...I just dont think we did our part as an institution...

Do you honestly think y'all administration could have made a difference? This move was inevitable.
