Mississippi High School Football Championships leaving Jackson!(Memorial Stadium)

So MHSAA doesnt want to pay the 30K because they are questioning some of the charges that wasnt on their in years past...I can understand that knowing my HBCUs would be questioning things like that if the shoe was on our foot..

Jackson is loosing out on a 2 million dollar impact due to 37K because we up charge them on scoreboard operation.. we really are hurting.

:smh:

Why am I not surprised it's over some piddling amount? Why am I not surprised these clowns are willing to lose dollars trying over a nickle?

:shame:

No but why are we more worried about them than us...thats black folks for ya.."They did this and that to me without looking inward first"

Dude you're a broken record. Everything that happens is "our fault". Next you'll be blaming Fuller LOL.

nice try but this has nothing to do with TFO...but sometimes u gotta look at things from both sides...just tired of this stuff..

If they signed the deal, regardless of the extra costs, that's on MHSAA. They should've spoken up beforehand. That's just business. Plus do you have all of the information from both sides?
Heck, 37,000 dollars is chump change. Them guys would've given Ole Miss and MSU anything they asked for yet you're on here blaming us for THEM not following their signed document? Please.

It is all crazy... $37K is pennies in the grand scheme of things, but also I understand the school wanting to avoid taking a loss.

The bottom line of this whole situation is those S. O. B.'s were going to move those games regardless. They could have gotten the stadium for free, but you know and I know that State and Ole Piss gave some kickbacks to the MHSAA. Just to get people that would never ever step foot on their campus to recruit more students on the sly without having to pay a dime for it.

Just my $.02...

If that's true, keep in mind the so-called millions they speak of is the economic impact to the city as a whole. JSU doesn't really stand to benefit a whole lot just by having the games in our stadium. Maybe if it was an on-campus venue it would. But right now, most in the state still see Memorial as separate from JSU.

You would think the city of Jackson would have stepped in to keep that money in the city. JSU didn't lose out, Jackson, MS did.

If that's the true reason for the move, you're absolutely right. But you know its not. That's just the excuse that's been given.

ACKSON, Miss. —Mississippi High School Activities Association Executive Director Don Hinton said he could announce this week that the playoff games will start rotating to university stadiums in the state.

Jackson State said it didn’t put in a bid to host the games at Memorial Stadium because they’re still owed money from last year’s games.

The traditional home, Memorial Stadium in Jackson, is not on the list.

“We need to take our events to the best places to play and to the places that really want to have us there,” Hinton said.

Jackson State said the high school playoff games is a money-losing venture.

University officials said MHSAA still owes the school $37,000 for last year’s game.

MHSAA disagrees, and said the money is not why they want to move the games out of Jackson.

The MHSAA said that moving the games is a chance to showcase the event in other areas of the state.

JSU said it didn’t submit a bid to host the games because of that money problem, even though it means the loss of more than $2 million annually in estimated economic impact.

“We are in a situation where we have to make sure we are honoring the contract,” JSU’s Business and Finance Vice President Michael Thomas said. “Before we enter into another contract we have to make sure that this one is settled properly.”

Looks to me like the school made a business decision. Simple as that.

I agree, which is why I can't see the City of Jackson helping to finance a domed stadium.

The city of Jackson would certainly help us finance a stadium.. BUT they can't afford to.. They are hoping and praying that JSU can get the dome so all they have to do is collect the tax revenue. The city of Jackson is our biggest supporter (..it would be dumb of them not to be) but they can't be considered a financial supporter. The dome will be built primarily with private funds and some state funds.

When it comes to the QUEEN and her staff, the money better be right... The city of Jackson may not be happy about this but if that's the case, they should have stepped in and donated the $37K.

Yeah. A "business decision" ....

So the dome still would be a State and regional facility, although it seems like JSU is pretty much going in it alone?

So will da Queen file a lawsuit against MSHAA for that $37k that is owed?

And folks say this doesn't have anything to do with JSU?! Hahahaha!! They don't wanna pay, so they're leaving. LOL!
I betcha they'd try to work something out with Ole Miss.
Even if JSU isn't a host site, some of those rotations should include Black schools and not ALL White schools. That's my main point. If we let this go, then what else will them folks try to snatch away inspite of the fact that 80 percent of the athletes in football and basketball are Black.
You don't just sit back and watch folks take and take from you AFTER the fact. You speak up before the ink is put to paper.

That's what Jackson's Mayor is supposed to do. Raise hell for everything that is Jackson which includes JSU. Your admin can't start running their mouths about this without the MAYOR saying this is a Jackson, MS thing. At the end of the day it ain't about JSU. It is about the white folks hating on the CITY OF JACKSON. So the HNIC needs to stand up. That ain't Dr Meyers. Its the new kid on the block Mayor. Now maybe she should voice her concern to the Mayor and let him take it from there. The City leaders have to take a stand. They are the ones who represent the business folk of the community. Not JSU. JSU is a business just like everyone else. So those business leaders and JSU should all be in the MAYOR's office raising hell to see what HE is going to do about it if they are indeed concerned. Looks like JSU leaders ain't worried so there it is.

Yep. Now it is up to the Mayor to beyotch about it for the other businesses that lose out in Jackson. No skin off JSU's butt so to speak.
