Re: Heat eyeing Melo?

Who were the GM & coaches for the Lakers & Bulls? What players were on those teams?

You had too many folks on those team that wouldn't put up with any mess. So Artest & Rodman behaved. You saw the Lakers toss Andrew Bynum away and seem to be justified in doing so with his antics everywhere else.

We want to stand up and clap when these guys try to form super teams because the team that they are on seems to have trouble putting a team around them.

Has anybody asked that maybe other players DON'T want to play around Melo, Lebron and others? Look at the distraction some of these guys have been.

When the team wins it's all about them but if they lose it's the rest of the team's fault. Look at the Magic & Cavs-those players got called everything in the book and pretty much gave up.

You can't keep trading/signing for names so you can get attention.

Who is that 4 some going to scare? Bosh, Melo, Wade & James? Who is going to be the bench? Trey Johnson & some D-League guys? Teams aren't scared of them.

Re: Heat eyeing Melo?

Not sure how melo would help the Heat at this point.... he needs a defensive-minded coach and team (bulls) so he can do his thing. Also, wouldn't it be absolutely crazy if LBJ went to the Spurs? OH my!

POP does like LBJ. But I don't think San Antonio would go after him. They have K Leonard in the SF position. He is their future. If LBJ leaves which I doubt. The only place I can see him going is Chicago. You are absolutely right about Melo not helping the Heat. They need a player committed to playing defense. Actually they need a bunch of them who are younger and more athletic to come off the bench. They need guys capable of scoring 10-15 points consistently every night to help Wade, Bosh and Lebron. They don't need another 20 points per game scorer who plays no defense. Ray Allen still has a good year or two left in him and I think they should bring Rashard Lewis and Birdman back. Everybody else is fair game to be ran off.

Re: Heat eyeing Melo?

Dude 4 shots a game...as I said 2 - 3 shots is not making any type of sacrifice as you claim..plus who was there in Toronto with him?? noone and he took 16, he's with Wade and LB and taking 4 less...thus letting you know he's not sacrificing nothing..4 less shots?? really dude...man and you add Melo shots...them dudes won't sit for that...especially when they start to losing.. remember it wasn't all peaches and cream when the Big 3 1st join..they were doing whatever to try and make it work...at one point..ppl were talking about trading Bosh or trading Wade...so let's not sit up here and forget how things were when they 1st joined together..you having 4 ALL-STARs on a team dude..and you think it will work?? TODAY..Plzz...all 4 wont make it together pass All-star break...one will be shipped...bosh or Wade..

1. Four fewer shots per game over an 82 game season is a lot. That's more than 380 fewer shots per season.

2. The Celtics made it work for a while with Allen, Pierce, KG and Rondo until the old guys got old. And that was basically TODAY!

That was the OLYMPICS.....basically a paid vacation to play pickup games.

Thanks for missing the point, sir.

Both of those guys were not shoot first guys or needed the ball.

It doesn't matter.

Those guys came in with baggage, but yet were able to be valuable parts of championship teams.

Plus, Melo has to be a shoot first guy in New York. You want him to pass it to J.R. Smith so he can launch a 30 footer against the shot clock? Or Amare, who is a shell of his former self or whoever else is on that roster?

And everybody said how can LeBron, Bosh and Wade co-exist when they all needed to ball? It took an adjustment period. But the Finals appearances and the championships speaks for it self.

And when you have an unselfish superstar like LeBron, who not only respects the talents of teammates and more importantly buys into the head coach, it makes it a whole lot easier to add any piece without much reservation.

That drives me to my breaking point  . Yeah Lebron help make Mo Williams an All-Star but part of that was Mo's part as well. Big Z was still good when they made it to the Finals and Varejo has shown he can be a good NBA big man.

Amare has probably been the most disrespected All-Star in recent memory. The Knicks were playing great basketball when they traded for Melo and messed up their chemistry. They sold their soul for a one dimensional player and now they are paying for it.

Re: Heat eyeing Melo?

He probably needs to go to the Bulls if he wants to get closer to a ring. Tibbs already got a good defensive minded team that could make up for Melo's lack of defense.

Money wise, the Rockets make sense (no state tax) but basketball wise is Melo really the piece needed to push the Rockets to the next level?

Re: Heat eyeing Melo?

Sources told ESPN.com that Heat officials and the team's leading players have already started to explore their options for creating sufficient financial flexibility to make an ambitious run at adding New York Knicks scoring machine Carmelo Anthony this summer in free agency.

With cooperation from their stars and role players Udonis Haslem and Chris Andersen, who also possess player options for next season, the Heat could open up in excess of $50 million in cap space this summer and have the most financial flexibility in the league. The only Heat player locked into place for next season is Norris Cole at a salary of $2 million, though Riley will have to contend with a handful of cap holds for pending free agents as well as their upcoming first-round pick in the draft later this month (No. 26 overall).

What they "eyeing" him for? Can he play the 4 or 5 spot or something?

If he's going anywhere it better be to Chicago. That's the perfect place for him because of what you mentioned above about his lack of defense. I'd be more than happy to have him.

Rockets need a PG. They need Rondo and to re-sign Parsons. Then they can get some bench players that are specialists on offense and defense. Melo does nothing for them on defense and he will have D Howard and Harden begging for the ball.

Re: Heat eyeing Melo?

Don't need him in H-town.....got a left handed Mello already.

LOL. Yep. The Rockets need to trade Asik and some other pieces to Boston to McHale's good buddy Ainge. Ainge owes him one anyway for the KG deal when McHale was in Minnesota. It help saved Danny's job. Then the Rockets need defensive help and another scorer on the wing.

You didn't read my post. McHale saved Danny's job with the KG trade to Boston when KG was not really feeling going there. You had to be in Minneapolis to really know that deal. LOL. So Danny Ainge owes McHale one. Also the Celtics and AInge have promised Jared Sullinger that he can move to the PF spot next year as they are seeking someone to play Center. Keep up Kendrick.

Rondo to Houston makes sense. And Ainge and McHale have done business together. You know Ainge ain't trying to send Rondo to an East team anyway. Also Ainge's job became safe the day they dismantled their Big 3 and committed to rebuilding and hiring Stevens as the Coach to replace Rivers.

Re: Heat eyeing Melo?

Ok. I misread that one.

But I don't know how trading for Asik helps Boston.

It moves Sullinger who they really like and has been productive when he has played to his natural position. The Kelly Olynck kid is too skinny to play the post. Asik would help them at the Center spot and they can add young perimeter guys to the mix. Boston is in a full fledge rebuild mode. So they ain't thinking Finals or nothing. Hell they will just be glad to get back to the playoffs. Asik would not be the only piece of the trade. The Rockets would not get off that easy. LOL. Ainge would get some other stuff from them not named Parsons, Harden and Howard. LOL.

Re: Heat eyeing Melo?

Melo ain't going to no Heat and Miami gonna be lucky to keep LBJ. The love fest in Miami is over for LBJ. Melo will be a Bull, but I think the Bulls should wait and sign Kevin Love he's a better answer for them.

@BullsSource: Broussard just said that Carmelo Anthony talked to Derrick Rose already. All the players are talking to Melo. They all want him in Chicago.

I was listening to ESPN 1000. It was reported that he's been getting some information about the org and the city of Chicago for a min. That was from Brian Windhorst
