The Ultimate Warrior dead at 54..........FOX and WWE VIDEO
The man born James Brian Hellwig, who earned a global following as professional wrestler The Ultimate Warrior, died Tuesday night, World Wrestling Entertainment announced. Hellwig was 54.

TMZ reported that Hellwig — who officially changed his name to Warrior in 1993 — "collapsed outside an Arizona hotel at 5:50 PM on April 8th ... while walking to his car with his wife. Warrior was transported to a nearby hospital ... where he was pronounced dead."

Wow. At least he made peace with the WWE, Vince and Hulk , got into the WWE HOF and got a proper DVD release before he passed.

RIP

The Ultimate Warrior "clutched his chest" moments before he collapsed at an Arizona hotel Tuesday afternoon ... this according to law enforcement sources who spoke with witnesses.

TMZ has learned ... Warrior was walking down a hallway at the Gainey Suites Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ and headed toward his car with his wife -- when he stopped, clutched his chest and went down.

We're told Warrior never recovered.

Sources connected to the situation tell us officials believe Warrior suffered a "catastrophic medical event" and so far, we're told so far there is no evidence to show drugs or alcohol were a factor in his death. All signs point to massive heart attack.

RIP Warrior!!! His ring entrance as legendary. Sprinting to the ring. Shaking the ropes like a madman.

Even though I don't watch it anymore when Hogan joined the NWO was the peak of wrestling IMO.

I actually got to see The Warrior as Rock at a Mid South Production at little bitty Loyd Star High School in Lincoln County (MS). He and Sting beat up on some rooty poots. I had a ringside seat that cost about $20.00 (big ballin! LOL)

Yeah man. He and Sting were the Blade Runners. I remember when they made their debut. They were huge.

He ended up being a crackhead. When I lived in Baton Rouge I use to work at the old Casino Rouge and he would be out there all the time full of that stuff. One night Security had to remove him for being disruptive. I think he’s dead now.

Yeah he's dead. He was killed in 1998 in a car accident in Mississippi on I-20.

Agreed!! WCW was taking WWE to the woodshed in ratings back then.

Yep... if Ted hadn't overpaid those WWE stars and let Eric Bischoff run WCW they'd still be around. Yeah he lucked up and hit it with the NWO but they even ran that into the ground.

Almost did TNA the same way

Well, I will do you guys 1 or 2 better. Before Sting & Ultimate Warrior were the Blade Runners in Mid-South/UFW, they were the Freedom Fighters at Championship Wrestling Association in Memphis. Look at how green they were:

So did he and Sting remain friends? When they split, Rock went to World Class Wresting as the Dingo Warrior. He didn't become the Ultimate Warrior til he went WWF.

I read that as they went their separate ways, it was not friendly. Still, when I watch UW's HOF speech, I noticed that he acknowledged Sting several times. I also noticed when he mentioned Sting, there were cheers from the crowd. I'm sure at this stage they both let bygones be bygones.

I haven't had a chance to peep the Ultimate Warrior DVD yet (the REAL one the WWE had to put out allowing him to tell his side of the story before he agreed to be inducted into the HOF) but in the previews he speaks on him and Sting falling out.

That DVD is gonna sell like hot cakes...

UW and the "other" Sting teamed together in WCW in the late 90's or early 2000's.
