Spring time at JSU

Ummm, they finished as champions of the conference. Two of those teams beat JSU when it counted the most.

Im talking about a 4 year period so let's not change the subject. I would not want to trade my four years with either of the teams that beat us in SCGs.

I think MH feelings got hurt (and you jumped in) becsaue he wants ASU in the convo but the last four years in Montgomery have not been as good as the last 4 years in Jacktown!

I'm sure they would feel they same way especially since they won and finished this season with a championship.

Is that supposed to validate him? Because he was looked at by other schools? Rico was not looked at by anyone outside of the swac. We were the only team recruiting pendleton after his juco stint. Just from the film I saw, I deem him decent. We have a three star DE that is the highlight of our class.

Ok.

From the players we got, I will say that Shumake was not one of the recruits we were most happy about.

..and we like our class A LOT! However, whether anyone likes the classes we bring in is moot. There is a guy on MEAC fans who ranks classes and JSU is rarely on top but JSU gets production out of our recruits and over the last 4 years, only BCU has been more successful as a black college program than JSU.

Lol! That same guy picked Grambling to win the SWAC in 2012. His recruiting rankings suck and is not respected in the recruiting world.

Dude is bragging over someone patting JSU on the back from the MEAC lol

:sigh: I don't even agree with dude most of the time just like I don't agree with basebone. My POINT (oh slow one) is that people have opinions that later prove wrong. I said that dude ALWAYS ranks JSU classes low but we always end up with a good team. Understand before you comment.

Well, good for them. I would not want 3 losing seasons and a championships. I would take 4 winning seasons any day.

What's JSU and Bama State W/L record over the past 4 seasons? It should be close. Barlow has won 7 or 8 games in each of the past 4 years.

Programs are measured by championships. At the end of the day, when all is said and done in the last 14 years the eastern division looks like this:

AAMU 1
Bama St. 1
jsu 1

Programs are not and shouldn't be solely based on championships. If team A had 10 losing seasons and one championship to show for it and team B had 10 winning seasons and zero titles to show for it, I'd choose the ten winning seasons because my program was consistent over the years.
Programs are judged by consistently being competitive, not winning a title once in ten years.

Team A and Team B are both coming up short of winning a championship, which should be every teams goal once the season starts.

Thanks......no team wants to be known as the Buffalo Bills, Washington Generals or a Bridesmaid...Those words are synonymous with chronicle failures.

The point was which is better. I say I'd at least rather be in the hunt for a title at seasons end than not in it at all.

..and no team wants to be a doormat. JSU can say MANY things good about our program in the years that we didn't win the title. SU can't. In the last 4 years, we have been to two SCGs, tied for #1 or won the division ALL four years, and was ranked in the top 25 in 1-AA. MANY SCHOOLS WOULD LOVE TO TRADE THAT WITH US! I will take that over saying we were 2-8, 4-7, etc.. Championships are great and I want JSU to win the SWAC every year but when we don't, I want to be able to look back 10 years later and see some good things about the season. Comegy went to the SCG 4 out of his 8 seasons at JSU so of course, we measure success by championships but at least Comegy was a successful coach and we didn't have to fire him for losing. The only coach we have had to fire for losing in the last 30-40 years was ****.

The series is 38-10 jsu

I looked it up. Barlow is 30 and 16 over the past 4 seasons. So, JSU is first in wins and Bama State is second for being the most consistent during the period. Neither teams have won a championship in the previous 4 years. TXSU, Grambling, UAPB, and Southern have won championships.

Right.. they each have ONE championship and THREE losing seasons. I would not want that for JSU.

"Jones, 53, coached at Alabama A&M for 12 years, with a record of 83-57. The Bulldogs had only three losing seasons in that tenure - fewest of any Southwestern Athletic Conference program in that time - and he had the third-highest winning percentage in school history and second-most wins. He led A&M to five SWAC East division titles and the SWAC championship in 2006."

We were talking about the last 4 years. Also, i will take Comegy's 8 years over Jones 12. Comegy won the EAST 4 times in 8 years. Jones won the EAST 5 times in 12 years. Comegy had 1 title in 8 years. Jones had 1 in 12.
