Charlie Strong to Texas

That's the latest out of Austin. Both Texas and A&M will have Black Coaches. Strong is clearly a better coach than Sumlin though.

It this is true...........WOW!!! Who would have ever "thunk" it......... :emlaugh:

...like I was just going to post a random thread about "guiltying kids in attending HBCUS". There is always a method to my madness . Now you have TWO BLACK HEAD COACHES at the top two football universities in Texas. Remember, this is 2014. This means that most of these 18-year kids were born in 1996. McNair was long gone into the NFL. 1999 is when things started to spiral downward into the SWAC current product we have today. Now you have two coaches in the state of Texas living in luxury with impressive resumes to boot.

If you are going to be a slave to the NCAA, at least be a slave in luxury. Compensation for your work in the cotton fields is better. We might as well accept this and move on.

2017 my fellow SWAC Supporters. 2017...it may be all over with, for us.

So if you are Louisville, don't you go after James Franklin hard? They have the money to go head to head with Penn State (yes Penn State has more money, but they aren't going to bid too high for him. Louisville's facilities and overall program is light years better than Miami. Miami is just in a recruiting hotbed and has a big name due to their past successes.

If it happens you should have seen it coming with Sumlin's success. UT will not be out done by A&M and vice versa.

Naw Hon nobody would have thunk this, its UT different a kind of animal but I am proud of them for breaking through their 120 year history of racism...trust they tried Art B., Muschamp, and maybe even Meyers

The state of Texas has grown up a little socially when the two head football coaches of the two most prominent universities within the state are black and have white wives. I wish continued to success to both of them. This is a smart move for UT on many levels. Strong already has solid recruiting credentials in Florida, and will now have Texas and Louisiana ripe for his picking. Also, the two of them are in different conferences so there is no direct competition other than recruiting for the best within the state. Sumlin has the edge now, but we'll see how long that last.

I am not saying he was the first, second or third choice but there is not a dime's bit of difference between ut or a&m when it comes to racial situations. When Sumlin was hired I said to myself ut would not be far behind. And contrary to what Law Dawg stated I think having a white wife was a plus for both men. Some of the die hard died in the wool bigots willhave problems with the inter-racial marriage but the people who matter may see it as they have been acclimated and assimilated and are now culturally acceptable.

I don't give Texas' cultural and racial progressiveness as much credit as some.

The overall atmosphere at Texas is way more liberal than the atmosphere at Texas AM.

My comments suggest that I believe die-hard, dye-in-the-wool bigots are the decision makers, and that's why things have remained essentially the same for so long. It has taken up to this day the year 2014 to witness what we're seeing, do you think the bigots that are powerless have kept things in check this long or the ones with power and influence? Either way I welcome the change for the state of Texas, and credit is the last thing I'm giving anyone that wills real power within our state. As I previously wrote and intimated, the state of Texas has grown up a little, socially, by the display of these hirings.

congrats Strong.
just know Texas wants to win now. and if he's winning, they'll take care of him. one good example i heard was, he will become the Mayor at Texas NOT Governor like in Louisville due to big ticket boosters and other uppers.

The University of Texas sent a loud and proud as well as a long and Strong message to the nation: "We don't care who the coach is, we want to win and win NOW. Further we will NOT give up our headlines to Texas A&M without a fight." This shit is getting good. :emlaugh:
